Oh. My. Gosh. For the love of resin, that is beautiful. Now give me a figure to go with it all, please!

Off to order that "Ironman" pack.

thank you,

Thank you friends for your kind words!
The issue with the figure I hope to decide in August. I have to coordinate the technological issues with Shapeways. Backpack "Ironman" is essentially a test step for the production of figures by 3D printing method.

I do like the look of all those bits! Wonder would that pack fit on one of the LR figures?

Hello Peter. The new turret looks great! I am in the process of putting the other SAG II turret together and have a question for you. For the transparent bullet proof ballistic glass, how do you suggest that be prepared? I am trying to sand and polish the minor printing steps out, and then coat with Future, but it still looks clouded so far. I am thinking it would be better to switch to styrene sheet for the glass? still looking for the proper thickness. Please looking for comments on what others have tried for the transparent parts? Thanks and wishing you much success. -S

The MCATS turret is available on the Shapeways:

Stuart, I did some research on the replacement of windows in sets and have such ideas.
To replace armored windows details can use transparent plastic boxes from the CD/DVD discs. Standard box for TDK CD/DVD has a thickness of 1,3mm. Thin box TDK discs has a thickness of 1 mm. This plastic can be used for cuting of windows for SAGII turret. From the outside the glass to make a chamfer on the edges. To use 3D printed windows from set as template.

The using of plastic bottles for water capacity of 5 liters. The wall thickness on the side of the cylindrical part is 0.3 millimeters. Color plastic - colorless, blue, light green. This is similar to the shades of armored glass . I cut with a scalpel several strips 4X1,5 cm from smooth lateral part of the bottle. The strip is bent slightly as it is part of a cylindrical surface. It is not essential, because in the gluing process of the small squares (cuted from strip by templates) the detail is rectified. But it is possible to straighten the initial strip. This is done by thermal effect - smoothing-iron. Heat mode 1 or 2 (wool). Needs a wooden board (suitable board for kitchen cutting), the average thickness of cotton cloth (a pillowcase). Plastic strips to put on the board, cover with a cloth in two layers, press the heated iron on the one second, remove the iron for a few seconds and press again. You can turn up the strip other side on top and repeat the procedure. It may take several attempts for the experience.
From these strips can be compiled window glasses with different thicknesses. And one can use 1-2 liter plastic bottles, with thinner plastic (for the outside thin glass on MCATS turret).
Also, there is a packing boxes with transparent inserts (for the toy cars, dolls) and other packaging boxes.

I do not forget about the TOW sight, I try to do soon.

Roger, have a good trip!

The weapons look great. One question though, how many do you get in each set, Shapways doesn't say? I am specifically interested in the M240D (actually an M240H with the rail system added).

Hello Peter,

I just received my order of your 1/35th M249 MK48mod0 from Shapeways and I have a question. There seems to be a thin layer of gel like Vaseline all over the guns. The details on the gun seem very rough like slightly melted plastic. I'm hoping it's from the gel distorting the detail.
I haven't read anyone mentioning this gel before in this thread and was wondering if you, or anyone, had a suggestion on how best to clean it off. I've tried water and a brush and cotton swabs and they seem to just move the gel around.

Thanks for your time.

Matthew, thanks for your order! Here a link to the cleaning of printed models. Hopefully this will be helpful.
http://interurbanmodels.blogspot.ru/2015/04/how-to-clean-shapeways-frosted-ultra.html
Maybe try to use turpentine (solvent for oil paints). But first, test it on a separate portion of the surface. Also, a few tips for cleaning up:
http://armorama.com/forums/237594
https://aeroscale.kitmaker.net/forums/234938&page=2
And pay attention to the print quality. If there are print defects, the roughness of surface, the offset of printing layers, the model needs to be replaced by Shapeways.

And the completed renders of the Mico Pack Gunner. By the way, it's all handmade 3D modeling and sculpting, I do not need to use 3D scanners

Hi all
Here is my story wth Shapeway product. I have bought a MCTAGS turret.
I receive a very bad model; I send them a complaint and they send me a second tuuret. A liitle better but far for the promissed product /

I send them a second complain and read what the answer :

"We're not reprinting this model.
It is described on our website and is unavoidable with this material that some parts of a model are being affected by the Support Material that's being printed with FUD.
Because of his design we aren't able to orientate the model in such a way that everything looks smooth and nice, actually this is impossible with most models."

So for 50€ i receive an unusable"sh...t". Thanks Shapeway

I don't beleive the rough surface of this turret has anything to do with the orientation of a model for printing... It looks more like a bad print, possibly from using a bad batch of printing material?

Surely if Shapeway cant print it they should have said.. "Sorry weve tried to print this and it doesnt work, heres your FIFTY EUROS back" ... not just send you the failed trial result and keep your money. Did you agree to PAY for their R&D with a chance of getting a good product afterwards? If not id ask for a refund and send them back the product if they wanted it back.

Cheers Bob

could it be envisageable to make such prints on Reedoak Envisiontec printer ? We also have support material, but we place it manualy and you have a kind of "sprues" placed on spots that save details.

Pascal, have you had 3D models before? Is it a case of expecting too much from the medium? I have to say the photo doesn't look so bad to my eyes but I have had NO previous experience so may be talking b@ll@cks.
