Thanks for the heads up, Erik... I'm glad it did turn out to be the Chieftain

Here's the pic

CHIEFTAIN! YEAH!

(And then all those who want a Space 1999 Laser cannon will have a suitable chassis!)

Those were 1:25 scale Tamiya models. The Takom would be totally inaccurate.

In my opinion it is a Mk11 hull.

AWESOME!A new Chieftain. I built the old Tamiya one which, IMHO, came out nicely with lots of extra work, but one that can be built OOB and accurate - WOW!

Hi!
By the add on armour right and left of the driver´s hatch, it is a hull for a Stillbrew variant, with or without TOGS...

Well, I guess someone has to say it:
Really??? Just as I am finishing up my Accurate Armour Stillbrew with TOGs on the Tamiya chassis? Oh well, I might as well admit I will probably buy this one too!

You are right of course. I was making a joke on the original post but wasn't sure anyone got it :-)

Now it sounds like YOU are making a joke. I wonder how many will read "The Takom would be totally inaccurate." and panic!

Well this is just great news. So is it to be a version with the Stillbrew armor? I'm not fussed to be honest, I'm definitely getting one no matter the Mk. It'll be interesting to see if they plan to do a range of them- be great if they did- I'd love to have an accurate earlier Mk. to paint up as an Iranian version too.

I'm hoping they'll include options for a whole host of diffeant marks.

I suspect it'll be a Mk 11 and just a Mk 11. While I'd certainly like to see other marks, Takom don't seem to be huge on doing multiple versions.

The Mk 11 was almost to be expected - I'd be surprised not to see credits thanking Bovington on the instructions for letting them crawl all over their Mk 11. Given the complexity of shape of the Chieftain turret and front hull, them having had access to the Bovington Mk 11 is probably a very good thing.

Takom have done a number of "3 in 1" and "2 in 1" kits, so perhaps they will take a similar approach with this kit.

Perhaps the Stillbrew armour (at least on the hull, hopefully even on the turret) can be included as separate parts, enabling a "x in 1" approach to the design of this model, even though it might be complicated to do it that way since my understanding is that the additional armour is integrated seamlessly into hull/turret on the real vehicle.

Still, if there's a will, there's a way :-)

This is truly exciting news, no matter what mark the first release is. Here's hoping for a slew of Chieftain releases from Takom and anyone else who wants to join the party :-)
