All.
I'm away from my work bench for a week, so what I sent to Colin is not a "how to" or even close. If you like, when I get back I can put something together if you would like. I am far from being the expert on soldering PE, but I will be happy to take pictures of what I do and explain as best I can.

Colin. I apologize if you were looking for the complete package of a how to. I will put one together and send it to you as soon as I have access to my tools.

I did tell Colin that Adam Wilder does a great DVD on soldering PE if you want to invest in it.

Let me know if you want me to put something together, I don't mind, but I can't even start for another week.

Yaayyyy!!! Thank you, John!

Everybody, let the party start! You can enlist on the page linked to by John above.

Paul: I really don't want to impose on your free time as I'm sure it's costly. I will try and see if I can find that Wilder DVD and how far that gets me. Thanks a lot for the hint!

Hey Paul, no worries, was just looking for some tips, but I certainly won't say no to a SBS for soldering PE (if you have the time and inclination) and I will see if I can get a hold of that CD you mentioned!

Cheers,
Colin

For those who requested the info on soldering, I'll have to see what I can put together. Won't be professional, but it might save you some hassles if you are just getting in to soldering. Does this need to include recommendations for equipment/ supplies or are you more interested in the process itself?

Personally, I am more interested in the process itself, but a few recommendations on materials/tools wouldn't hurt!

Thanks, Paul! Same here, more interested in the process itself.

Maybe you can even make it an Armorama Feature if you're going to put effort into this.

PS: I'll be out of town till next Wednesday so my replies will get slower.

Cristian,

Glad to hear that the campaign has been approved.

Fiddled a bit on a possible campaign ribbon that may be considered:

It's inspired by the movie 300, where a small group of Spartans battled against a horde of Persians. I'd liken that this campaign is something similar -- a challenge in overcoming the fear (maybe) of building kits with high part counts!

Feel free to use if this works.

Looking forward to the official start.

Cheers,

Tat

Everyone needs a little insanity in their lives... Think of it as building two Tamiya kits!

@Tat: The banners look absolutely great just like the story behind! I think, I like the second one the most so I'd say we use that one. Thanks for taking the time to do these!

@Anthony: There won't be a better time to get that one done. It certainly would make for a great build!

For those who were asking for the in progress pics of the FT-17 I was working on, I have posted the finished build pics of the build in the same location.

The initial photo for the Bronco Bishop I'm building. No limber with the kit, but it's still over 900 parts. May add the limber later if all goes well

The FT-17 turned out superb, Paul!

Glad to see you "broke the ice" with the Bishop. I'm sure this will be a fun build. Looking forward to see more pictures of it!

Thanks very much for the kind words. It was a fun project, but I'm ready to move on.

Took the first pics for the soldering piece last night. As I said, it won't be professional, but maybe it will help someone.

Cheers

Made a little progress yesterday. Spent most of my time on soldering and picture taking. Hope to get a little more done today.

Looks nicely detailed, Paul! I still have to build my first Bronco kit but I've heard mainly good things about their quality.

Looking forward to reading the soldering article!

Made a little more progress on the Bishop this weekend. Still moving slowly due to the soldering project. I'm enjoying both so that's a win.

I normally don't post this many pics, so please let me know if it's too much. Especially since this isn't a build log.

This is far from being too much... if you can even talk about "too much" in case of a campaign. Please do post as many images as you consider fit!

I just enlisted. I am going to enter my Trumpeter 2S7 Pion that I just started. Only done a few parts. Not sure of the full parts count, but I am sure that is it well over 500. I am also including the RB barrel, though I think this reduces the parts count by a couple.

Is this going counter to the campaign rules? Based on these and previous comments I understood we were okay to begin... The Campaign Administrator indicated the work I posted was outside the campaign window. I can certain set this aside until December and get to work on something else...

John, I hope it is not against the rules but I stated from the beginning that I'm fine with people starting their work prior to the official start date provided the overall progress is not over 50%. Although, this limitation doesn't make much sense on a second thought since we already set the rule of starting with no more than 50%.

All in all, I'm fine with Paul having started this before the official date... as I did the same myself

@Graham: Welcome to the party! I wasn't able to find any figures on the part count either but it certainly looks like it would fit the bill.

I made some progress today...

The PE parts are kind of fiddly. This subassembly (not sure what it is) is put together of 9 separate parts:

Here is the back with the added parts:

Next step weathering the newly added parts...
