Hi Joe maybe the "not suck" technique will catch on
but i was aiming at people who wanted to try out things on there model they had never used like etch sets or washes and filters etc as its a dog kit its not too bad if it doesn't work out.
I am going to try the silly putty masking tech see how much i suck at that!

I think I will try to use my airbrush on this one. I have a Paasche single action that I just got the smallest needle assembly for. Never really learned how to use one before.
Word of advice on the silly putty technique-don't let it stay on too long-it will spread a little bit. It tends to leave a little bit of a raised edge.

That is what I was thinking also. I used it one time on a 1/72 Bradley and it came out great, but I usually freehand my airbrushing.

Dustin, here's a couple to whet that appetite:
I gather that these CH white-boxed kits cost a fortune these days. I believe the second one, #6403 is the latest incarnation (vintage 2008), and the reviews I've seen were positive.

I just signed up for the campaign. This is the model I'll be building.
It's one of the earlier Tamiya 1/48 armor kits with a metal chassis. I think the later HobbyBoss kits are more detailed and better.

LOL! I'm glad it is a long campaign. Between a client build and moving in May/June, I'll need the time. I'm only moving a whopping 4 miles, but still, it is just one more thing to deal with.
Since I've never tried modulation, and I'm dubious as to its benefits, I'll try that as a *new* technique on this project.

Great to see you guys getting ready for this campaign, i am in same boat as Carlos have a Diorama project on the go and just need to bring the sub assembly's together then its all systems go!!
Waiting on a Detail set to turn up from manufacturer(had to go direct as this one is OLD lol)

This campaign seems taylor made for me. I have been a kit collector and long ago builder and have many old dogs that have been waiting for there time in the sun.
I just started the Tamiya Panther A. I have a new Badger airbrush and hope to get started with ABing with this kit.
Another old dog I have been eying is the Tamiya Panzer II Ausf F.
Recently aquired is the Spojna Polish 7TP kit which is the only kit I know of this very interesting tank. It looks simple, but we shall see!

I guess I am going to try a couple of new things, first to try to finish a kit within the campaign time limit ( Gettr Done/Hangar Queen notwithstanding) and I guess I will try some serious hairspray chipping here. I have had good success with salt chipping, but this will be the maiden voyage for hairspray.

Carlos-Got a few of the trumpy abrams in the stash, what with the new realese abrams coming i might have to get some built.
Tom-those tamiya jeeps are ancient cant wait to see how it comes out!
Mike.D Think skif missed an opportunity to do a great build with this T55 kit pity they messed up on it so much and got some parts so right..
