I have all the stuff I need now. Ready to start on March1. I will be doing a 251/1 towing a 120mm mortar in LAH armoured group during the Ardennes. The heavy company of the III/2SS PzGrenRegt had these and they were used during the assault on the Sanatorium in Stoumont

Sounds like a top plan Jerry. I like the way it ties in with the Sanitorium as well! Will it be another dio in the pipeline at a later date? Hope so as your dios are always inspirational. On another note I bought the Calvin Tan book painting SS uniforms. Looks pretty good so hopefully I can improve my SS figures..

Just for you Karl.... I'll join in with a *drumroll*...... 251/8!!
Yes sir! The ambulance-version. I will do the 251/11 on a later date. Sorry Jerry.

So no Dragon, DML, AFV Club, but good old Tamiya-stuff and MR.

I am having a bit of a hard time giving the vehicle it's designated unitmarkings and setting. I have a set of stretcher bearers and wounded to go with it and they are SS. I'd rather have had WH.

Stumbled upon this thread and signed up. Haven't built a half-track so this should be a good push for me. Still need to figure out what to build though.

Just curious, shouldn't this thread be under Campaigns?

Yes,the plan is to tie it all in eventually! The Tan book has some really great pointers in it for sure!! Hope to see your efforts soon.

If your figs are wearing smocks you could just paint them in the Army pattern? Very easy conversion. Or,if you are sticking with the WSS you could do the LSSAH in the Ardennes as they painted over the unit markings prior to the attack. Just sayin.
There is a great pic of a 251/8 in Duel in the Mist. It was destroyed by the USArmy along the Ambleve river. I suppose the giant red cross meant nothing?
Too bad about the 251/11 as I never saw any built except the one I did in my"Aber zack zack" dio.

Andras, you can join the unfinished business campaign with your partially finished kit.

Yeah, no probs. It'll be another kit, then.

Ron, that's great news lol. I can then see what the conversion kits like. As Jerry suggested if they're in smocks just paint them up in Wehrmacht cam. If you need some hoods for the smocks I've got some you can have from some DML figures. I work in reverse. I leave the hoods off DML figures so I can have them as SS lol.

Tat, it's on the campaigns page so I left it as is. I've seen it happen before where people have started a new thread after approval so you end up with people posting in one or the other which just confuses the issue so it makes more sense to me to have the whole lot under the one thread thereby people can only post in the right place . You're pretty much spoilt for choice Tat on what you go for there's that many variants. Check these two links out and see what you fancy. All of the major types are listed with pics and pretty much all of them are available as a kit or conversion.

Really looking forward to the start of this. I can see this being a lively thread as we've got quality modellers in and just as important modellers who talk to each other which is always a result.

Hello there,

I've never done a campaign before but think it may be the best way to inject some discipline into my modelling so I actually finish something.
Got a couple of ideas so if you're OK for one more...

Cheers,

Sean

Sean, jump on in. I know what you mean about self discipline. It's one of the reasons why I join campaigns as it guarantees I'll finish something rather than have half a dozen half built kits knocking about.

Great -- thanks Karl!

I was about to ask for a good source of info. I may as well clear some space for the additional stash if I get deep into this!

Brother, if you're going deeper on 250's & 251's, there's no going back.
Do not say you were not warned.....

Ron, you're spot on there. I'm accumulating something of an independent stash of 250's and 251's these days.

No big stash on them here. Just a Stuka zu Fuss, a 250/9 Ausf B, a 251/9 and the 251/11 conversionset. Oh yeah, the complete UHU-set too.

Plus a 250/3 Ausf B, Rommel's Greif 250/3, soon to be joined by the 251/8 on the buildingtable/shelves.

Along with my collection of built vehicles; a 250/6, Eckinger's 251/1 commandconversion (the one with the maptable), a 251/2, Guderian's 251/6, a 251/7, a 251/22.... and a 253.

I have an issue, don't I... because I did not mention the US halftracks yet. Or the other German ones....

LOL. I just bought a DML Premium Kit -- 250/1 Neu. The LHS listed it at $20 which I thought was a good price, so I jumped on it. I'll have this as my campaign entry.

Hey Ron,
Where did you get a 251/2? Is it a conversion set or scratchbuild?

It's an old Azimut conversionset for Tamiya's 251 Ausf D.

It's an old Azimut conversionset for Tamiya's 251 Ausf D. Scored it on ebay a long time ago for a very good price. The set was quite straight forward with a lot of added extras and I did a buildreport here on Armorama in a halftrackcampaign, but copied it onto my blog;

Received this during the weekend ...

Just took a quick glance through the box. Looking forward to this build - first time I do a 251. By the look of the rubber tracks I think I'll order some AM tracks. Any other known issues with this kit?
