This is the M60A3 crosswind sensor I drew up. Is this acceptable? It definitely isn't the right size but it can be scaled appropriately.

Hello,

what happened to the crosswind sensor? Will it become available?

Would it be possible/ usefull to print russian tank barrels for the T-64, T-72 and T-80 in 1/35?
Had a discussion on Missing Links, and there was doubt if these would be suitable, but it would beat glueing all those tiny retainer clips...

Maybey a M85 barrel with blank fire adaptor?
Miles gear for afv's?

Michael, I have to agree with Marc that some MILES gear for vehicles would be great. I've seen tons of photos of vehicles with the Vero strips and the sensors. The sensors would be a great addition. They are pretty simple in shape. A set would allow someone to make the strips out of tape and then glue on the sensors.

Regards,

Eric

I still have the model for the sensor but I haven't done anything else on it. I haven't had much information about the size of the sensor. Unfortunately I also don't think the cage is printable. I can start the model up again with the right information.

I can definitely design a few barrels with a good profile drawing of the barrels in question. If you can get references for the BFA, I can see if it would be printable. And the MILES gear would be doable. Do you have any references for them?

What's the designation for the periscope? I can't find anything about it online.

Can you do barrels with rifling in them?
A Co. used to make a brass etch sheet that had rifling on it but they stopped making it.Armor Research it was.
Maybe could print one so could be cut like there's.
What glue works with these printed parts?

I can do barrel with rifling modeled in. And a set that can be cut and rolled can't be printed in the material being printed. It isn't flexible enough to be bent without breaking. And yes, super glue works very well.

Takom is hinting at a possible M3 Lee/ Grant, so I'm putting the driver's periscope on hold.

I know I've thrown this out there before, but what are the chances of knocking out some ready-to-trim IDF ball and chain segments? A "set" could possibly be several rows of "4 links and a ball", 5 links, 6 links, etc; or even a roww of the long stuff, and the end-user just trims to fit as needed? By opening the top link, the individual segment could be attached to the almost always kit supplied PE base on the turret basket, and even be made to swing free, like the real stuff.
I can say for certain that I would be a customer.....

I don't think the links are printable. I don't have any concrete measurements to go on but I think they would be too thin. I also don't have any references to use to correctly scale any pictures I'd use to draw on.

I can't believe it but I didn't post any pictures of the SOPMOD stock set that I had recently received.

I've started looking into the MILES gear but I'm running into trouble because it's such a large, complex system with so many components, many of which are vehicle specific. If anyone has any more info on it, or has access to "sets" of MILES gear for any specific vehicle, your help would be appreciated.

If you do a barrel, you might want to hollow it out to fit over a length of brass tube. I'm not convinced that a 1:35 main gun tube would stay straight under its own weight, especially if the resin ever gets warm!

Actually in normal conditions, the resin holds up well. That M256 barrel I designed stays pretty straight and only bent when it was under a hot UV basking bulb for many hours over a couple of days (there was uncured resin/leftover wax). Other than that it's pretty sturdy.

Hi Mike, any chance of 1/9th scale weapons. I have a 200mm Verlinden 82nd Airborne figure and think the M16 supplied could be improved on, with trade names etc as well as overall scale, as it looks on the small side IMHO. Was also hoping for a Car15 and or Swedish K, AK, SLR which would aid greatly in possibilities for modification/conversion. Well, dreams are for free.

J-Shape on Shapeways has already done a M16A1 and A2 and XM16E1, M4A1, XM177E1 and E2, AKM and L1A1. I can do the K though. I'll also make it in 1/35.
