Those are turret traverse markings used for fire control similar to the Royal Navy's guns. The Centaurs especially were used by the Royal Marines to bombard the Normandy coast. Exact corrections could be made by soldiers outside the tank: I believe there was a phone in the back of the Centaur as well if I am not mistaken.

Its great to see marking for Thunderbolt V. I just wish I knew where I could find pictures of it though.
