Chris,
That's a lot of wheels, forgot how tedious they were!! Didn't have the same fit issue you are, sorry to hear it. I use wood working clamps, not quite the most delicate of tools but they do the job!

Cheers,
Rick

Use the same type of clamps too. It's very possible I messed in the construction prep. Nothing that can't be overcome

I'm going to build the Trumpeter 1/35 kit (#211) of the MAZ-537G (intermediate type) with the MAZ/ChMZAP-5247G semitrailer. I am also going to use resin replacement wheels from Tankmaker for both the truck and trailer.

Thanks

Initial body assembly done. The front end and rear seat are in temporarily. Insides painted, outsides still primer. The engine hood will be closed when done...engine's in there, but you won't see it.

Road wheels are painted and installed. The Quickwheel masks are great. Wheels were completed in a couple of hours. Installed front fender group as well. As the front bumpeer is optional, I decided not to install.

Tracks will be next.

Here is an in progress shot of my jeep and trailer combo. The jeep is more or less done, minor fittings, a few markings and some weathering to go.

The trailer will be carrying the mobile homing pigeon coop based on the jeep-trailer combo on display at the D-Day Museum in New Orleans.

Now, does anyone know where I might pick up a small flock of 1/35 pigeons??

Cheers,
Rick

Progress continues. Tracks are installed as is the forward body.

Steering wheel will be installed after I decide if I'll add the figures.

Ever so minor a comment on a great construction project: Never saw a Maybach engine that didn't have black valve covers unless it was a rebuild. Regardless of paint color the valve covers were sheet steel so they would not have been left as bare metal. Others may disagree.

Michael,
Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I don't have any reference material for this vehicle. The pics I found online, showing the FAMO engine, were not very clear. So, I defaulted to what was called out in the instructions. Once built, the engine won't be visible. But, I'll file this info for future use.

Hello.
First of all I'd like to wish a Happy New Year.

I'm really at my first time in this kind of game.
I was just surfing Armorama and felt here.
I've got an already started kit that I'd like to run in this campaign with. Let me know if it's ok for you, I think so.

Best regards
Vittorio

More progress. Dry fitting of the front and rear body sections. Hope to have the FAMO completed this week and start on the trailer this weekend.

Everyone is off to some grand starts. For a total change of pace my own modest project the 1986 vintage reissue of Revell's ancient M35 truck in 1/40th scale. This boxing combined the truck with the 105mm howitzer kit.

I will be building it as a 1990 vintage NJ Army National Guard vehicle of the 112th Field Artillery. I walked through their motor pool and had a chance to look at some ancient REO built trucks from the 1950s with rough multi-coat paint schemes. And at least one retained its original gasoline engine.

The FAMO is complete. I had a few fit issues with the body sections, so not perfectly square, but will do for me. Work has started on the trailer.

Coming along nice. Your FAMO is looking nice Mark. I'm going to see if I can dig out a kit and joint the group within few days. But, in the mean time you all keep up the good work.

Awesome work going on here guys, been following along quietly since the start because I am an armor noob but I have some of the kits being built hiding in the stash and I am constantly searching for reviews and feedback before I dig in.

Just for interest, here is a photo I found a while back and will be using as the basis for a 1/72 diorama. I have even sourced the decals for the exact P-61 pictured here. I have sourced several 1/72 Hasegawa fuel trucks to scavenge for parts for the trailers.

Anyway, truck and trailer, and trailer, and trailer

Best of luck with all of your builds, I will be following right through.

Cheers, D

Hey D, nice pic. Mid I ask what truck and trailer are those in your P-61 pic? I have a 1/32 Black Widow so I just might borrow your dio idea as well. TIA
