Since they already have the chassis, I wonder if they will release the towed/airmobile version of the Lance-- it doesn't look like it would be to hard to do.
VR, Russ

That would be nice. Like the real thing it was just a mobility kit i.e wheels. You could sling it underneath a 1/35 Chinook. That would make a cool display.

You could also load it inside. Many of the foreign users of the Lance had the towed version, not the tracked.

The launcher truss assembly is pretty much done as far what the kit provides. Still need to scratch build the GSU and MP unit storage cases. Also discovered that Dragon only provides one control surface storage case - there should be two.

Also started to make some corrections to the control surfaces.

Test fitting the main hull components. The overall fit is very good. Added one of the control surfaces to the missile body.

I stand corrected. There are in fact two control surface storage cases.

Playing around with this a bit more. Although Dragon does provide two (2) Control Surface Containers, they are way too small. Don't know where Dragon got their dimensions from You can see the kit containers in relation to the control surfaces on the missile. The real containers hold two control surfaces. Also did some preliminary work on correcting the front missile cradle assembly.

Probably from a TM illustration with a scale in the corner.

The real ones were 6 x 28 x 56 or 68 inches.

The corrected rough dimensions of the Control Surface Container. Quite a difference to what Dragon has provided.
Waiting on some resin items to see if they will pass for the missing equipment boxes.

Oyf.

Maybe they thought the dimensions were in centimeters? How are they in thickness?

Off by just under 1mm. Not enough for me to worry about it and don't think they'll be that noticeable once they're mounted with the tie down straps.

That's a good one... Dragon designer using a TM

They simply used some photos of the container and designed it with no knowledge whatsoever about its purpose... If they had used the TM they would at least know what it is for and could guess the size...

I have no scratch building skills but this is my attempts to correct the control surface containers. One down, one to go. Yes the top still needs the two handles added.

Trying to add a few more missing details. I just wish Dragon had done just a bit more research and not cut so many corners on this kit.

Will have to completely redo this item. I used the support beam from the Hobby Fan kit as a template but it turns out to be way too tall to fit correctly on the Dragon kit. The hull dimensions are different between the two kits.

This is the Hobby Fan part I'm using as a template.

Redid the support cradle. Just needs some bolt details added and I'll be happy with it. Also finished up the second control surface container.

I don't know if you need the bolts:

Where did you get the ratchet clamps?

Whos handles are you using on the "rebuilt" control surface containers? Other replacement parts? I am following your build with the intention of correcting the kit at least as much as you have, so any specifics will help.

Just noticed that. Thanks for those pics; very helpful.

The ratchets were procured from the Hobby Fan kit.

I haven't put the carry handles on yet. The resin parts are tie down strap ratchets.
I stole those from the Hobby Fan kit. The other equipment boxes are resin items from DEF models modified a bit and they kind of look the part.

Just need to add the large equipment box on the launch truss frame.

Finally have the forward cradle and frame finished and attached.

Added some wire screens to the engine deck.

The drivers compartment is not glued down yet, still need to added the instruments and a bunch of data placards. Seat cushions also need painting.

A question Chris: I have the Hobby Fan kit but I am tempted to buy the Dragon one as it has already been on sale at deep discount. Knowing what you do now, would rather have the Dragon or the Hobby Fan?

Truth be told I'd go with the Dragon kit. I've also got the Hobby Fan kit but I hate working with full resin kits which is why its sat on the shelf. The Dragon kit has its issues but it's not all bad.

Being lazy with it but need to get back to it and finish this one up. Doing a little bit of hurricane prep here and hoping we dodge a bullet, but may get some time to play with the kit this weekend.
