What color did you paint the container? I can't tell if it's a khaki or a pale green.

Lifecolor UA222 Olive Drab FS34088 with irregular patches of Lifecolor UA224 Olive Drab Faded type 2.

Question: what paint are you using for the USMC green?


It is my standard mix for CARC 383 Green with Tamiya acrylics:
approx. 9x NATO Green + 9x Field Grey + 2x Flat White.



I have yet to paint anything USMC green so i have not try figuring out the colors. However, I do see MM colors have USMC green in their paint line to make things easier but I like the end result of your colors on both truck/trailer. May I ask about clarification on your measurements? Is that drops or % of jar? TIA.

It's a volume ratio, so you can think of it as a number of drops.

And MM USMC Green is FS34052, which is a completely different color - the old so called "Marine Green", as used e.g. on USMC armor in the 1960s.

Thanks for the clarification on the mix ratio and USMC green. Btw, I don't suppose you would know of any website that lists paint information about what color is appropriate for what time frame with different military vehicles or groups? TIA.

Pawel, If you don't mind my asking, what is your secret to such realistic and bright looking reflectors and width markers on this model?

This is an effect I would very much like to be able to recreate!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to bump this thread.

Mainly because I do not think this model is getting the recognition that is rightly deserves. This masterfully done conversion makes me jealous because I know I cannot duplicate the ability and quality shown here. Yet it also makes me want to strive for greater excellence in my own efforts.

Gentlemen (and Ladies); This model is exactly what the Armorama website is all about.

Now you made me blush...

As for reflectors, I paint them silver first and once dry I overcoat them with Tamiya clear red or orange. Depending on a silver paint you use they will be more or less reflective. In case of this model I overcoated the marker lights with Tamiya smoke to make them a bit darker than reflectors.
