The Box should display M902 not M901, The 901 is a PAC2 version.

It should be called a PAC 2 or less by the looks of the missile on the sprue shots.

PAC2 MIM-104D/C/B/A -1 Missile per container
PAC3 MIM-104F - 4 Missiles per container

M901 - PAC2 GEM-E - up to 2000 - 4 GEM missiles
M902 - PAC3 2004 - Present - 4 GEM or 16 PAC-3 missiles
M903 - PAC3 MSE - Future - 12 MSE or 4-GEM or 16 PAC-3 missiles

Technically it can be called a PAC3 since the PAC3 launcher can use 4 ea single missile container.

I'm not too sure what changes were to the launcher itself.

The kit includes 4 missile containers and appropriate missiles for them. It looks like the earlier PAC 1/2 missiles are still included on sprues, but the newer ones are also there on another sprue (with separate missile heads and fins, so less noticeable).

The missed opportunity in this kit is that Trumpeter included the same M983 version as previously released. It would be so much more interesting if they updated the tractor to current M983A4 configuration...

That the kit comes with the M983 is great! What a kit! Now I need a Pershing 2 and launch platform to finish my wishlist!
