I think the E/M and the /G kits could both be used for US versions but the /G kit has markings for one US vehicle. There are 4 muzzle brake types and two turret rail types supplied.

The early German version was from US stocks. The "G" parts, of which the kit really just has the smoke launchers, weren't added till later.

The US only used the regular M47 as depicted in the /G kit. The E/M was developed to update the M47 to the automotive standards of the M60. The US was fully committed to the M48 and M60 with even the Army National Guard and Reserve giving up their M47 for export by the early 1960s. The E/M didn't get rolling until the 1970s.

2-piece barrel is pretty disappointing

MR Modellbau has just released a turned metal 90mm gun barrel for Takom's M47 & M47M Patton...kit #35577. The fume evacuator chamber and muzzle brake are resin. Not a bad piece, and light years ahead of Takom's poor example...giving me an absolute reason to purchase 2 for the stash. Reasonably priced too!

I’ve neglected this thread while I finished the out of the box build review. https://armorama.kitmaker.net/review/13578

Now a few things to add to make an accurate late Bundeswehr service M47. Mostly the rear lights.

Nice job on that thing and the tracks came out good.

Cheers
