Gabriel, nice jobs Mark and Gabriel on your builds. I have finished my BA-3. Now to see if I can add it to the gallery.

Neat, Love the weathering on the wheels. I thought about trying to do a packed snow on my wheels but chickened out. It's a bit nerve wracking doing a good job on the paint then hiding it behind a sludge of white paint.

Mark, that is very nice addition to the collection. Glad you had fun and enjoyed the build. Would love to see you join some more armour ones in the future.

Bob, the BA-3 is terrific. Nice to see some subtle variations in the finish, such a big slab sided beast really needs what you have done to it. It Might need a wash before we put it in the Armoured CarMax lot though

I'm impressed, all I did was to cutout the molded in screens and tried to simulate fabric on the plastic seats.

I am surprised that after all these years, no-one has done a corrected updated kit of the GPA. The Tamiya kit is great for what it was intended to be all those decades ago, but with so many different Fords, Willy's, Bantam's or whatever kits out there now, from so many kit manufacturers, you'd think one would do the GPA... especially given how many the Russians used.

Mark, thank you! That was the whole idea, since those AMDs had little time to fight under French management. just a few scuffs and lots of dust (reconnaissance duties), but not really "pounded".

Peter, thank you! You've done admirably in taking "charge" of this campaign and motivating your "squadron". I'll gladly participate to another campaign initiated by you if suits my schedule.

Okay time to put some pictures where my mouth is. Progress on the Otter.

I have deviated from the build instructions somewhat as they tell you to keep the chassis and the hull separate until the very end, I didn't. Same for adding all the interior components to their locations, then assemble the hull..... I prefer to paint the separate components and add later, as gluing the hull sections together then having to repaint joins can be irksome.

In this pic you will see fender joins. IBG have an unusual way to add the fenders. They have part moulded on the hull, which you have to match the other fender part up to. Result a join line to fill.. stowage boxes cover the top of 2 fenders, but not the sides or the other 2.




A closer pic of the fender join. The fenders are also missing quite a few screw heads.


The selection of bibs and bobs, mostly ready for paint. IBG give you an extra parts - spare wheel, 6 spare Lee Enfield rifles, 2 extra canteens and 12 spare wheels with Tyres of other dimensions and a whole clear styrene sprue with windows meant for other kits - none are used here!

Turret 'bucket' has had a weld seam added and the walls and the front flanges have been thinned quite a bit, overly thick otherwise. Similarly the fenders have been thinned too. They are bevelled to make them look thin, but the edge on the bevel needs to be steeper so it is not visible.

Peter, nice clean build. So clean it looks like a CAD rendering! Yes, that's IBG! Bit their moulds are quite good apart for thickness. I've build a TKS tankette from them and I was impressed.

Thanks Gabriel. This is my first IBG kit, and I was also impressed. The styrene is a little soft and 'rubbery' compared to other manufacturers and is reminiscent of kits I built in the 70's, like ESCI, but is not too bad. You can't trim up to the part without risk of pulling a section out, but careful shaving with a sharp knife and sanding remedy's that.

The only thing I don't like, and it is similar to Takom's styrene, is the lighter stress colour left on the part after cleaning off the attachment points. It makes it hard to see if you have removed enough.

Overall, very happy with the kit fit etc, so much so, I have bought another IBG kit - the Bedford QLB Bofors gun tractor. A partner to the AFV Club Bofor's gun I have in the stash. If that is as good as this one, I may be buying more IBG.

There are a couple pictures out there with a remote weapon station mounted on top of the cab. I'm contemplating using the Live Resin Arbalet-DM RCWS kit, which looks similar but not identical to the photos.
