If we bought cars the same way we buy Dragon kits.
1. Buy a car.
2. Buy the update set containing proper wheels and a fuel tank.
3. Buy the drivers area update with pedals, steering wheel and the gear shift handle. Instrument faces are included in this set.
4. Buy the set with steerable front wheels. The clever car owner can build this with leftovers or spare parts from earlier cars.
5. Buy the set with the fiddly details like handles to open the windows and doors.
6. Buy the de-luxe set containing engine and opening bonnet/hood
7. Buy the external details set with updated hood ornament and other small bits
8. Since you didn't get around to driving your car the same year you bought it you might want to consider buying the upgrade set to modify your car to the latest version. Also includes the souped-up engine

/ Robin

What will be the base price for a car w/o updates? 5000 Euros?

I've been enjoying this build.

I have the Dragon Lance high in my stash-queue. I think its in the on deck circle at this point.

I don't have a specific desire to do anything other than a generic American Unit.

That said, I want to to look good.

It appears to me that both the Eduard set and the Perfect Scale Modellbau basic correction set would be necessary for a really detailed, "accurate" version. Think this is true?

Granted if my scratch building was as good as my stash-building, I could handle it myself...

And I have to say, I'd never even considered building the Loader-Transporter version, but it looks very cool with the second missile hanging on the crane! Tempting... Would probably STILL need the Eduard set for details though...

From the looks of it the Perfect Scale Modelbau is the way to go. I’m ordering some of the correction sets and the LT. The correction set will save a lot of time.

Chris, you might still need to rob the exhaust from the Tamiya

I'm going to get the PSM ahem Basic Corrections, as it covers the major visual omissions.
The PSM sets don't appear to cover the drivers' compartment, or the engine comparment grilles.

The Eduard PC does cover Drivers' compartment, & engine grilles, carrier beam & cradle mount, as well as 100's of tiny PE bits.

My hands & eyes will pass on the PE, unless they consider a 'Zoom Basic Corrections' kit?

Another option for the Drivers Compartment is the ARCHER set for the M113, should fit the bill.

Carefull study of arkbuilder2012's build is illuminating

Depends on which kind of basic car you want, the Skoda or the BMW

Completely missed the Eduard release. Will need to pick one up. Downloaded the instruction PDF and the set provides loads of small details and other nice enhancements.

Please feel free to add your opinion on the PE when you get it, either by starting your own thread and add a link to it to this page, or directly here, constructive & usefull info always welcome

Would like to know if the placards & signage is coloured/printed with text, otherwise they would be pointless?

Also available from Perfect Scale Modellbau

M752 Lance "Basic Correction Kit" EUR €19.50
This includes... so much that is missing, Larger Fins, Larger Fin flight cases, Crutch & Cradle, American bumper code decals, the mysterious boxes on the launcher... but not visible, any drivers' compartment details.

This one is already top of my disposable income dispersal list.

Disposable Income dispersed, Ordered yesterday, let's see it takes to get to the UK.

FYI on the riveted roadwheels...the guide teeth on the track would wear them away causing the outer section of the roadwheel to go on its merry way.

Thankfully the M113 was easy to work on and you could slap on another roadwheel (if it was an outer one) with just a socket wrench.

Interesting info, i assumed the rivets were an early/late model thing, SFAIK the smooth wheels are not right for the UK vehicle, but I can live with that

Thank you for the update on the PSM updates. I have just purchased both the detail set and the reloader conversion. Now, to wait for them to arrive.

Same here. A couple of weeks I’d guess. The Eduard PE set just arrived today. Looks very nice. The engine deck screens and interior side panels look especially good.

Thanks to this thread I ordered the eduard set and the PSM update.

Was very tempted to build the crane-equipped reloader but decided against at the last moment!

Such a good boy I am.

Likely to be one of my first 2018 kits.

Chris F, could you confirm if the drivers' compartment bits & placards are in colour/have text? If possible, post a pic?

No color for the PE and the placards are just the plain plates. My plan is to use the Archer 113 set again. Jon A thanks for posting the pic.

I Win Guys!

Ordered 5th Dec, Posted 11th Dec, Arrived Sat 16th Dec

Obvious differences in size for the Fins & Flight cases, I'll measure up when I've got my assignment finished.

Thanks to Tat Baqui of Armoramas' News Section for the Heads Up, & my Overdraft for paying for it.... with Extra decals for some of my Bundeswehr vehicles.

I came to post my resin shots, but having just arrived this afternoon (20th) I obviously lost this leg of the decathlon

Overall they are very nice, rather clear color instructions, nice crisp resin, some new decals as well. Their website has good high quality images if you like.

***EDIT-- I didn't realize that the poor casting was sent to me as a bonus extra! They caught it in quality control so they sent me two:). Better than just throwing it away***

My castings appear to have only one issue, one of the "briefcase" packages had a sizable air bubble as seen below. Still, shouldn't be hard to fill and sand with some putty. Or I'll find a tarp to drape over it!

Too bad about the bad casting but looks like it should be easy to fill. The rest of the parts look good.
