Hello guys!
It is my new project!
Minimnafactory trailer and Trumpeter tractor.
The trailer is a very beautiful, model which can be built easily. The tractor already problematic. (size mistake, imprecision, burr...)

Trumpeter has announced this exact combination in plastic for next year... So apparently your sacrifice to modeling gods has already worked.

By the way, what "size mistake" you mean?

Lookin forward to seeing it !!! two SMALL observations... the 870A1 has a removable kingpin (I suspect the reason this resin version is not sitting flat on the ground at the head of the trailer). Other thing that might be easy to do is that on both sides where the trailer and the gooseneck articulate, there is a hole. That hole is for a fairly big pin that is chained to the side of the trailer right there. When you load the trailer (via the tractors winch), those pins are inserted so the trailer will not unfold while being transported. If you plan on having the trailer attached to a tractor it might be worth it to just pop a round disk with a brass handle on it to simulate the pin. If you plan on having the trailer and gooseneck on the ground, cut the kingpin off and drill a hole through there.
Sorry to be so techno, just a soft spot in my heart for this set up, its what we used to haul my D-7 in Afghanistan in 2014.

Question: Why the three identical photos of the trailer in your first post?

Yes - what size mistakes - as this tractor is supposed to the current state of the model maker's art?

Well the spline on that drive shaft telescopes so just pull it out to the length you need.

Sorry to say but: - You have either the differential of the #2 axle installed backwards or you have the entire front axle boggy assembled incorrectly. The gearhead on the #2 differential is supposed to be turned around the other way so it faces the transfer case . This would then call for a shorter driveshaft.

Here is a similar set-up on my Italeri HEMTT after I corrected the failings of that model.

The #2 and #3 differentials on the HEMTT are both what are known as "pass-through" differentials. The gearhead splits the driveline; part of the drive torque goes directly into the #2 differential and part goes through the gearhead, up and over the differential to connect to the next driveshaft and then on to the #1 axle. (The same arrangement works for the rear boggy as well.)

As you can see in this schematic all differential gearheads (4) face toward the center transfer case (3).

Also, another thing you may or may not be aware of, but the version used by Engineer units is the M983A2 LET (Light Equipment Transporter), which is different than a standard M983A2 Tractor as in the Trumpeter kit. The Trumpeter kit out of the box, is the version used as part of the Patriot ADA missile system.

The M983A2 LET has a winch in place of the spare tire, a different rear deck configuration, side ladder on the left hand side fuel tank, and a roller at the rear of the chassis.

Sir, is the A3 version also similar? I dont remember specifics I just remember that with the A3 trailer and the hydraulic gooseneck it was a PIA to drop or recover the trailer. The A2 wiht the 870A1 was so much easier. Pull 2 pins, unlock 5th wheel, connect winch to trainer and put winch in neutral, and drive away. Pull winch pin and kingpin and store in trailer head for recovery. To recover, replace kingpin and attach winch cable ( that already played out since you dropped it). put tractor in neutral, winch in rewind, and trailer drags up and onto 5th wheel. Place 2 locking pins, remove winch line... and off you go.... With the A3, it was much more difficult to get the gooseneck/trailer connection right, and if you blew the gooseneck lift cylinder, you were done. At least with the old school 870, you could use the load usually to lift the trailer head if you had to and then just back under it.....

I can't really answer your question as I never worked on the actual equipment as an operator. I just saw them a lot and noted the visible differences for modeling purposes.

Quick suggestion: If you make a base for this tractor/trailer combo just add a small "divot" in the ground to clear the trailer hitch pin when you want to pose the trailer as loading equipment. That way you don't have to castrate your trailer for other future uses.

Kampits why do you have the exact same photograph of the resin trailer showing three times in your opening post?

I would very much like to see more photos of this trailer. I am interested because I have already built the WWII equivalent* of this rig and now you have me considering a modern day version as well.
