I don't see any reason why you can't participate in this Campaign:
-your build is a general conversion,
-it has major parts scratchbuild,
-it is a unique, one-off vehicle, that- don't ask me why am I so sure- will never be issued as a kit,thus it can only be scratchbuild.

I'll be happy to see you join this groupbuild!

Weekend is time for scratchbuilding

I've done some work on the 4 stage compressor:


Stages 3 and 4 are almost ready(less some bolts and piping to and from the airchiller).

Here the compressor is "sitting" on the frame:




So far no big troubles...they'll come later for sure

Very well ..... I'm waiting for the next step!

Some surfaces in photo certainly looks to be flexible. I would guess stand-off rubber armor would be defense against RPGs???????

Rubber armor was frequent practice in 90's Balkan conflict.It should activate the fuse a bit further away from the armor,and rubber should "consume" (at least theoretically) the heat and reduce the penetration of the armor. More practical usage was to prevent bullets ricochet from the hull and harming near by infantry.

Some initial paint job:

Some made fun of a recent thread showing appliqué wooden armor but I thought that was done for exactly the same reasons: stand-off detonation of incoming rounds and to absorb ricochets to protect nearby troops on foot.

Some additional detail(lubrication plugs, bearings housings, tensioner,struts e.t.c) will be added this weekend.

Marko, very nice work all around - interesting build

Mike, the photo of wood “armor” you mentioned was on vehicles in the Philippines - the idea of controlling/reducing richochete seems reasonable. I can’t remember how thick the wood was, but I can’t imagine it has much stopping ability on impact, but once through I suppose it could dampen rebounding - ?

Angel, your compressor is coming right along, and as always your eye for detail and patience is paying off! Nice work!

Cut some styrene and wires yesterday.
Twin radiator and fan housings constructed:

Next are all airbottles plus-I still haven't decided yet-either the oxygen-water chiller, or the control panel frame with the fuel tank,

Not much done on the Compressor this weekend.
Removed the upper part of the control panel-need to reduce its height and then I'll build it separately.
Added an absorber and an air-oil separator with the piping from and to:


Next week I'll start the construction of the truck, that carries the MCS(ZiL 157 by Trumpeter).

It is very good. It is a pleasure to observe your work progress. Chief, by the end of the month, will you be done to compare it to the original.

I scratchbuild only at home- during weekends.Providing SWMBO doesn't set another agenda

Still I managed to find a solution for the big air pressure bottles yesterday morning(combined some from Italeri's Workshop Tools set as they were originaly not long enough):


They will take a bit more priming/sanding when I get home next time,

This project has received lots of scratch work -









So, yes - I'm still scratching! I won't push my luck with this on this thread - next one will be another military - of some kind!
