Hi Angel
This is an excellent looking build! I like the way you modeled the vehicle as it looks on the monument. That is a nice and different idea!
Have fun modeling

Thanks Mike!

I have to admit my vehicle won't look like the vehicle on the monument today...

The municipality of Kula ordered a restoration few years ago and it seems that accuracy was the least concern of the "restorer", who replaced the ZiS-151 wheels with ZiL-157 wheels (basically exchanging the 10 8,25x20 wheels for 6 12x18 wheels).

What stands up there on the monument today looks more like a ZiL-157 truck (with ZiS-151 radiator cover), than the original ZiS-151.

Sad but true- it seems that accuracy matters only for us-the modelling freaks...

Oh, man. spending a lot of time on the AFV Club SdKfz 251 Ausf.D just trying to get pegs into their holes. The parts seem to fit nicely once that is done but I'm only on Step 2.

Looks good Gary!

I finally got the other side tracks done. And a start on the launchers.

Cheers Rob.

Looking good, Rob!

When I built my UE I went over the tracks around the drive and idler with a file after they were assembled in order to level them out a bit. Since the shortest track length is two links, they tended to come out very uneven without some intervention.

More progress my Tamiya Sd.Kfz. 251 Stuka zu Fuss. A very nice kit that fits together perfectly.

I am experimenting on a tarp to cover the interior. It will be a different look to the other 251s I have build.

More to follow soon.

Jesper,
you are right about it being a very different look. I scratched a tarp for a Sdkfz I did awhile ago:

I didn't have any reference photos so had no idea what it's supposed to look like, but I think it's fairly convincing.

I haven't gotten quite as far with Zvezda's Ausf B version:

The two center racks were short-shot and missing the part that actually grips the edge of the sidewalls, so I'll have to fudge them out of card stock.

Definitely not a Tamiya kit; lots of clean-up, slight mismatching of molds creating steps, and mild warpage making assembly a bit more tedious than necessary. But, if you want an Ausf B...

Looks cool with the tarp, Mark. Mine looks a bit different and yours is probably better.

Here is the status of my build. Almost done. Just the rockets and boxes to finish and add. Quite satisfied so far.

More to follow soon.

That's an awesome kit! I did that one a few years ago when it first came out!

Done with the Stuka Zu Fuss.

Not entirely satisfied with how the tarp came out in the end. It is difficult to blend colors properly because the fabric soaks up the paint quickly. Next time I will probably give it an extra coat of PVA glue. Something learned.

Looking forward to follow everybody elses builds.

Aloha All,

Nice work Jesper, Rob, Shell and Lapman!

Some progress on mine, but I will not make the deadline as I go out of town tomorrow for a week and a half. Any chance for an extension?

Got the main color on, and did some hairspray chipping. Still undecided if I want to do a three color, or leave it in the yellow.

Happy Modeling,
Zon

Almost there. Going to paint on the Balkenkreuz (decals were misbehaving), do some touch-ups, and attach the last little bits and she'll be done:

I'm waiting for the oil paint weathering on my BM-13N to dry enough so I can add some filters and rust.
Should be able to catch tomorrow's deadline!

Hey everybody,

Despite my good intentions to check in more often, the fact that I‘m in four other campaigns (and, as always, work) put paid to that....anyway, a bit of catch-up is in order before I post all my pics.

Shell, Zon, Angel, Lap Man and Rob - those are great looking builds - looking forward to the final stages!

Jesper - I love your Stuka zu Fuss with the disc camo - the tarp and the mud bring it all together.

William - Your BM-8-24 turned out great, good job!

Well, here are the progress and completion pics for my Soviet BM-27 Uragan as it would have appeared in the Afghanistan war in the 1980s - that gave me an excuse to dust ‘er up. This is the first truck (as opposed to a tank/SPG, etc.) that I‘ve completed since taking up the hobby again a number of years ago, and it was a fair bit more work.

Good luck reaching the finish line to those who aren‘t there yet!
