I really admire the work you've put in to these figures! The bayonets were a particular stroke of genius and look really nice.

If I may ask, did you paint the divisional patches or did you use decals?

It's quite frustrating how difficult it is to find British WW2 divisional badges in 1:35.

Also, thanks Brian for the concise summary of British insignia...I've been a bit baffled by it in the past so your explanation helped!

Thanks for the kind words buddy !
I painted the Scottish 15th Div patches. Not the best but as you say, impossible to find decals. I suppose I could make the decals but that would be waaaaay too techie for meself.
There has been a lot of excellent help provided so far on this thread and I,along with you,am grateful for it.

Hi Jerry, always enjoy checking out your work. Didn't know if you read them, but WW2 History magazine has an article this issue about the Epson operation and has some really good pics of the men's gear. Looking forward to your finished work, know it will be outstanding, as always. Wayne

Wow, Jerry, just simply wow!!

Some amazing work, yet again I might add. For what it's worth, my favourite is the first guy - the guy standing and firing.

Excellent work all round again.

Wrappin this one up !!

A team from the 12th Platoon,2/Argylls,has just finished clearing the grounds of the old Tourmauville Mill. The corporal sends his men through the front gate down the road to the bridge over the Odon river,(really a creek by our standards). The corporal has a man covering the advance.

Jock is on his way and luckily it appears the bridge is undefended. There is a PAK in position but it is abandoned. Nothing will get in the way of this brawler.

He knows he can count on his mates. They have been training for over a year for this, part of the rebuilding of the Bn after its' devastating losses in Singapore.

As soon as the first man reaches cover and takes a firing position, the corporal sends the second man to join him.

The Argylls take their bridge!! Not resting on the laurels, they then send a heavy patrol over to the west, upstream and take the Gavrus Bridge! The Germans react quickly and send in a massive counter attack from the west driven by the newly arrived II SS PzKorp, but the foothold over the Oden holds and rough fighting for hill 112 remains ahead. But the Scots have prevailed and have gotten to the Odon !

Nice composure on this one. And I like the weeds growing up the middle of the millstone. I hear a battle forming up on the western front. Commissars to the front.....

'Love the composition and action poses on this Jerry - well done you!

The only slight observation would be on the last figure (of your pictures) whereby you have modelled the bandolier excellently with the weight of it hanging down, but I just think that the bayonet scabbard should perhaps be shown subject to the laws of gravity as well; sorry for the lessons in physics (of which I know very little) - if you tweaked it a little if it's not too late and show it hanging down just a bit more then it would be spot on.

I do hope you take this in the spirit in which it is offered.

As always the more you look the more you see, another gem & an outstanding example of out-of-focus figures energizing rather than handicapping the scene, love the backgrounds too. As it’s a bugbear of my own what’s your technique for fixing figures like Jock to the ground? I assume he isn’t just balanced, is it the end of a pin drilled into his sole?

Very nice Jerry. Good composition and your usual lifelike figures. Only comments (too late to be any good), Section Commanders were usually issued with Stens (not that it prevents an individual acquiring a rifle - much more reliable); if I had been the SC I would have used my gun group (Bren team: Group commander Lance-Corporal, gunner and No 2) to cover the advance (although they could be off to one side out of shot). I probably wouldn't use such an obvious target as a large gateway for access either if I had the choice.

Greg-Thanks buddy for the nice comment !
Brian-Thanks for weighing in. In my defense, the scabbard is empty ! But,yes, probably could tilt down more.
Nacho--thanks for the generous remarks buddy.
Maarten-thanks for the encouragement man. The u boat pen is awesome !
Tim-thanks buddy. I have to stay on me toes to keep up with you man !The figs are all pinned to the base with brass rod. I learned my lesson years ago with figs falling all over every time I moved the base.
Cheyenne, thanks for checking up here and for the nice comments buddy.
Mike-I haven't decided what is up next. I may revisit some old half completed stuff. Or a 2 fig vignette I have been thinking about. Thanks for your interest.

I had considered the Bren and thought(as you do) that it would be on the flank. I only had a small area to cram all this into. I also thought this group was too small for a sergeant? I didn't know if corporals would have the sten. Fitting this scene into the larger scenerio, the guys are a small group that has cleared the grounds of the mill, which was surrounded by a stone wall, like many things in this part of Normandy were. The rest of their platoon and company have swept the flanks outside the grounds and wall and they are now on-line and linking up through the gate. This gate and the background are taken right from the book on the Odon battles from Heimdal, which has clear color pics of this exact spot by the bridge. All of this is still there and can be viewed from google earth by flying your mouse over it !
I realize the liberty with which I have taken with some of the tactics but remember, this is a tiny piece of scale terrain here man. I can only do so much.
