Hi;

This is Old News,--I'm More excited about the BMOT, T-84, & the BMR-3 !!! While the BMPT RAMKA is new, its just A Cross Bred between there BMPT & the Mk-2 Terminator, both of which are in my collection and are excellent kit's ! IMHO the TM kit of the BMPT Mk;2 is just A Lil-bit Better as they give A Ton of extra parts that can be used on other projects...

Nice to see the T trotting out the T-80 U! I've been hoping for something better than that Skif kit... and now it is finally happening!

It's also nice to see the T kitting the "intermediate" BMPT with the original hull w/ grenade-launcher stations and the turret developed for the BMPT-72 with the later "Ataka" missile system mounted! For those who look for "in-use" opportunities in modeling these BMPT, this one has actually been sent off to Syria! So doing an "in service" build is legit (unlike for the original Ramka or -72 versions...)!

And the kitted intermediate saves me having to buy 2 kits and bash for one build! Yay!

Zvezda also announced a kit of the intermediate BMPT for release sometime this year. I will wait for more info before deciding which company's intermediate BMPT to buy.

I look forward to buying Trumpeter's T-80U.

Lucky Models has so far only listed the T-84 and the T-84BM Oplot in their catalogue. LM has not yet listed the T-80UD that was announced earlier by Trumpeter.

I am going to buy T 80 U as soon as it hit the market.
I have 1/72 T 80 U from Modelcollect which is nice little kit but too small for my standards since I am 1/35 modeller.

I really want this T-80U, and I very much hope that the version from Trumpeter will give me more pleasant impressions in the process of assembling than the T-80U from Xact, which I am building now. And, I need to take the BMPT at least because they use my photo as a box-art

And a splendid photo that is, Vlad!

I do hope that the T will include the Brod-M wading gear as did Xact - all up, the T-80U could be a splendid thing if T does as well with it as they have with the other T-80 kits. The -U certainly calls me!

However, the T is not helping things at my home... What with these kits, and the coming T-72 "Rogatka" and the "Oplot" and others... my poor wallet is going to be further squeezed and peace at home strained a bit as more big kits come in!

Reference to the BROD-M; I wonder if it will be mounted directly behind the turret or offset like the Xact kit? The offset is to allow egress from drivers compartment without the gun tube being overhead evidently.

I have seen line drawings of both but have no idea which one or both are correct.

Facebook feed with sprue shots of the T-80U. Cannot tell if the BROD-M stack on the back of the turret is offset in the model or not.

However, it looks to me like the front glacis/front upper hull would be a drop-in replacement for the T-80BV kit, thus correcting one big problem. I don't have the T-80U kit on hand (obviously) to make a direct comparison, but it looks like a proper late T-80B/T-80BV glacis with the drivers hatch "cheeks". If I am correct, this will be a HUGE help.

I may have to get this one and repurpose the Xact one in my stash, I've been impressed with Dragon's T-80 family. At this rate, they might come out with a T-80UK before Xact's gets released!

Hi;

FYI; Dragon has not produced anything Russian modern since the 80s & 90s !! So your thinking Trumpeter and there T-80 series as they are the only Company as of now making T-80s. Exact's T-80 while good, is not quite the same quality as Trumpeter's offering ! And speaking of Exact, the only issue I had with there kit was there Gun Tube, which has scale issues, the other so-called error's were not an issue in my book. Speaking of the UM1-BARS Trumpeter has it Listed in the New Product Catalog, also seen is the Black Eagle which is A T-80 offshoot.

Hi;

If you watch the Russian RAE Events, they refer to Mk;2 as being the BMPT-72 and the First Terminator as the Mk;1 !!
When First Shown the BMPT-72 was given Top Priority and shown at great length on large screen monitors; The name RAMKA has ben given to both Terminators, and the cross bred version was an easy conversion, and offered better features in an Urban Battle !!

As far as I know, the name "Ramka" belongs to the BMPT Object 199 (also known as the BMPT "Terminator"). BMPT-72 (budgetary modernization of the T-72 by replacing the turret and the installation of additional protection elements, the name "Terminator-2" used on exhibitions) is Object 183, and the name "Ramka" is not applicable to it. The version to be released Trumpeter is Object 199 with ATGM launchers "Ataka" with armoring (known name is "ispolnenie 2", I do not know how it will be translated into English correctly - I doubt that "execution 2" is probably the simplest "version 2". The same type of ATGM launchers is used on the BMPT-72 turret.) There is no separate name for this version BMPT, while it continues to be an object 199 "Ramka".

... The saddest thing in this news for me is the presence of two Xact T-80U in the stash, one of which I started doing almost 4 years ago, then I abandoned it to collect dust on the shelf, and only Trumpeter's announcements forced me to return to his build ing urgently so that he did not turn into garbage at the moment when this T-80U comes out Now I'm done the turret and return to hull (the hull I started assembling 4 years ago)... https://www.flickr.com/photos/realhokum/39451681174/in/album-72157669371957679/lightbox/ But there remains the second T-80U from Xact with the conversion to UM-1 "Bars" ... Its me even did not start, and Trumpeter already showed a test assembly of his "Bars"...
