...I think a casually leaning soldier...

Who is- I will suggest- casually yawning...

Well done, Batze!

.... the original ....

.... and the model ....

There should be a small gap between the "6" and the "2", but I ran out of space on the plate. But for me it's fine enough and this build has a special meaning anyway.

Kalin, nice progress on your Mercedes!

Looks close enough to me Torsten. The gap yes and the dash a bit higher to the fork in the 'Y', but unless you look at the pics together, you would never pick the disparity. Nice little touches like the number of your own vehicle are a great addition. Adding the bolt heads too?

When I do these individual character decals, I place painters tape along where the bottom of where the characters will sit. I mark off even spaces with a pencil on the tape so I can work out spacing and setting the characters along the top of the tape helps keeps everything aligned.

There's another one higher on the front side. Can't remember if it was just a shiddy day for the birds or if they successfully made a Stuka attack on my truck .... No, I won't add them to the build.

Well guys, this is it. I call this beauty ready for truckin'. Just will add some pastel chalk to give it the dusty look the truck had most of the time I used it. In the next days I will take some better photos of it and show them in my Leopard and other animals thread and of course upload some to the campaign gallery. Was great for me to take part in my first Armorama campaign and I'll sure be back for "Logistics Mk. 2" ....

Recently I read that the Estonian Army bought quite a few of these trucks from the Bundeswehr. So maybe my old "245" is now running around the Baltics with an EK-Number (EK = Eesti Kaitsevägi).

Good luck for all your builds!

Excellent work, Torsten!

After spending much of last week repairing my roof and two sections of backyard fence thanks to an early morning storm, I got to finish up putting the NATO green on my MAN 5T.

Now that the days are getting longer maybe I'll get to finish up with mine...

Thanks for your feedback Bogi, Peter and Richard! It's much appreciated!

This build was a bit of nostalgia and many memories came into my mind. This is a special build for me. In September it's 30 years ago that I left the army after 4 years service, spending 3 years more or less with this truck. In my first year I was a gunner/loader on a Leopard 2A4 but changed within the unit when I heared that truck drivers were needed. Back in the 1980's a military driving licence was valid also in civil life here. That's no longer possible.

Richard, I keep my fingers crossed for your build and will follow the progress here. If you have a question just let me know I'll try to help.

Thanks Mark! Yes, I think I came quite close with the camo to the real thing.

Very nice looking MAN there Torsten. I have one sat on the shelf of shame for the past 15 years or so, this may inspire me to finish it now.
Building of the ZiL-131 is done

and it now starts the long wait for the paint booth in its sub-assemblies.

Excellent Richard. I assume the cab is not all glued? I would not envy you painting otherwise...

Richard, nice ZIL there. I might get it also now that I see yours. Revell had it out recently. What camo will it get? And what country will it belong to? During the "re-organisation" of my stash I found a GAZ 66 and an URAL 4320, both in the Revell box. They sure will look good beside my MAN.

I'm glad to hear that I inspired you to finish your MAN. Mine sits now on the shelf of pride and waits for the photographer. Have done no weathering on it yet, I'm a bit too anxious to do too much. So I might leave it as it is now ....

Fenders and cab roof/back are temporarily attached with PVA or I wouldn't be able to get the cab in place past the engine.

This is the Revell rebox and my only gripe is that the mirror arms are incredibly delicate in plastic and needed patching up 3 or 4 times while cleaning them up. It'll be done as a NVA vehicle (once I have the correct green shade worked out) as I seem to be collecting Vehicles of the German Armed Forces of the 20th Century .

Richard, I've mailed that question to a friend of mine who was in the NVA around the same time I was in the Bundeswehr. If he can answer that, I'll let you know as soon as possible.

Richard, I've got an answer from my friend concering that NVA-Green. He says, he uses Humbrol 114 Russian Green for it, which would come very close. Have a look at your LHS.

For non-enamels I would use Vallejo 71017.

Thanks for the steer Torsten, gives me a start point as the Humbrol 114 is unfortunately discontinued.

In the meantime I've taken some photos of my MAN and added 2 of them to the gallery. If you like you can also have a look here because the truck doesn't look as clean anymore as on the photos above. I think I found the right way. I has been also on an expo last weekend.

Very nice work Torsten. The dust effect looks good. Congrats for your finished model.
