The Italian Front 1943-1945 Campaign is now concluded. We've had some great builds, some excellent sharing and participation, and most likely will have learned something too.

I want to thank all who participated!

Cool! I had to look it up to find out what it was. Should be interesting to see come together with some great weathering options.

Historical campaign is always a good idea, so I'm in. Not sure with what, but probably with something from allied side.

Howdy Y'all
Of course I'm in. Lots of choices in my collection. Right now I'm thinking I would like to build one of these:
1. Diorama of a civilian father and son watching German or American troops drive by. (Hey it's Fathers' Day today)
2. Captured Semovente M40, I have the kit and the decals for a German machine
3. Sherman tank at Monte Cassino or Anzio
4. Spitfire in American markings
5. P-47D in checkertail markings
6. P-51 "Red Tail" from the Tuskegee group
But I'll probably change my mind before the start date. Anyone have any ideas for ship subjects?
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Ship idea: Some kind of landing ship/craft large or small at Anzio. Alternatively one of the many Italian ships that surrendered when Italy left the war.

Speaking of Anzio, one of the hard spots on the soft underbelly ... : Maybe the Anzio Annie?

HMS Abercrombie supported Sicily landings, and Trumpeter has one in 1/350. I have that in stash, but I'll probably pick something simpler...

I have to admit, I'd be a little shy about trying to complete a 1/350 scale warship in 6 months.

Hi Gary,

Count me in! Not sure what yet, either something from the
Regia Aeronautica or an open top afv.

HMS Nelson, HMS Rodney, HMS Warspite - all participated in Operation 'Husky'. They're available in 1/700, the HMS Warspite in 1/350 too; 1/350 Nelson and Rodney should be available soon. If you like them big, there's a 1/200 HMS Rodney with the overall length of over a meter...
1/700 and 1/350 Liberty ships are available too, as well as LCIs, LCSs, LCMs and LSTs.

Sweet! Gazza, it says partially completed builds allowed. Can I finish my Panzer III I started in the Crusader campaign? I also have Tamiya’s PzIII L I could do for this. I’m in.

The title, Europes soft underbelly, makes me see the profile of a pig with a great big soft belly hanging down, possibly with a swastika on the flank, and a hand with a dagger coming up from underneath. I just can't get this mental image to go away ...

Useless image for a ribbon since it is probably too complex for the limited amount of available pixels.

Well... I have thought of other names:

Italian Campaign...

Up the boot!...

Italy 43-45...

Viva L'Italia....

Always up for the popular choice.

This campaign feels like a sister campaign to “Crusader to Gazala”. Maybe a name like Kasserine to the Gothic or something along thoes lines would be of interest. That would cover the war from where Crusader left off until the defeat of Axis forces in Italy. After that you could do “From the Boot to Berlin” or something like that. Anyway, just an idea.
Looking forward to whatever you decide.

Kasserine was a mountain pass so maybe
Kasserine to Brenner could be an alternative name?
Bound for Brenner ?
