BFT- antenna on Stryker in Afghanistan ?

Does the Stryker have the BFT antenna in late Afghanistan mission ? Any photos where it's located then ? Thanks in advance

No problem. I just noticed back on July 7 you asked about the bottle on the Stryker over on M-L. By this point I don't think anyone can or will answer. Those bottle are filled with a mixture of Powerex and nitrogen. They are part of the tire fire suppression system. Here's a better photo from my walk around:

Question - Are the tires on a Stryker that much of a fire hazard that they need an extinguishing system?

Apparently so. The M-ATV also has a tire fire suppression system:



In Iraq, the Cougar I measured for research had the spares from the side of the vehicle removed and placed atop the vehicle:



The spares on the side were replaced with armor plates. The crew explained to me it was because the tires had a history of getting burned up when getting hit by IEDs or EFPs.

Thanks for the clarification Robert. Especially thanks for those pics. Interesting detail shots that I don't think many modelers would catch. I like the added "hillbilly" armor put in place when they moved the spares topside.

I have Roberts Cougar and Buffalo mpcv photos and they are great, recomend them very much
