Hi Zon,

Would you mind to take some photos with a much darker background? The current photo setup hides the beauty of your paint work, I think. What I have seen now, looks very nice, though.

Hi Robert,

Good luck with your healing. And yes, you are very much right with the "Bright Side" :-)

Hi Joseph,

Very nice assembly work on an interesting subjuect. I especially like the ladders!

Tamás

Thanks Tamás! Those ladders are pretty intricate. I'm afraid I'll break them off accidentally when I handle the model during painting and weathering.

Here are pictures of the S-51 with sub-assemblies dry fitted.

I will be applying primer soon.

Thanks,
Joseph

Tamas,
Yes, I will retake the photos this weekend. I was in a hurry and didn't think about the contrast / lack thereof.

Thanks,
zon

David: that looks great! What a beast that is.

Joseph: really interesting vehicle.

As Tamas pointed out, my last photos weren't too good, so I retook shots of the main fuselage. Hopefully the blue background shows off the vehicle a bit better. Sadly, I've made no further progress...

Thanks very much, Majid. I like your progress on the ZIL 157 engine and chassis. I worked on the same project but is currently a shelf queen right now. I started the project with the intention to detail the engine because I have a pretty good reference. In the end, I decided against it because I wanted to model an operational truck.I don't have the need to leave the engine compartment opened. This is where I stopped on mine.

Tamas: thank you for the encouragement. My main goal now is to not mess it up! Also, some day I hope to get my picture taking up to Joseph's level.

Joseph: that has really turned out nice with such a superb paint job. I think I will have to give that vehicle a try sometime.

Majid: thank you for the kind words. Your engine looks fantastic! Very realistic. Nice work.

Happy Modeling,
zon

Real beauties here!

Zon- the second batch of pictures of your tiny jewel are of much better quality then any of those I have posted here.

Joseph- I take my hat off for the clean build and the splendid modulation!

Majid- superb work on the combo!
I'm a big fan of ZiL-157 truck and I dare to say Trumpeter's take on it is among the best - both in detail and ease of construction-kits I've ever seen.
That engine does cry out for some superdetailing.
Here is my try from this winter:

Keep up the good work,

just a quick up date, the weathering will begin shortly as i am now just waiting for the rust effects to dry and i have also sprayed a clear coat over it as well to seal it all in.

Thanks Zon, I like your aerosan. It's looking good. The color white is pretty challenging and you're doing a good job there.

The S-51 is one of those that you don't see often. I liked it for its obscurity.

David, your rusty weathering looks convincing. Keep it up!

Angel, thanks for your compliment on my modulation. Believe it or not, I'm still in the learning stages.

Hello everyone,
I'm calling my S-51 done! I limited the weathering to painting highlights and pin washes. My thinking was, this vehicle is not in the forefront and would not be crashing into buildings or vegetation. Because of this, there are no scratches, chipping or any visible damage. So, here's how it looks.

Here are some detail shots where the highlighting and effect of the pin washing can be observed.

And finally, I entered this at last Saturday's IPMS OrangeCon and it won 3rd place in the Self-Propelled Artillery category!

I also entered a companion build, the B-4 which also won 3rd place in the Towed Artillery category.

It was pretty neat to enter 2 models and both winning medals!

I will be uploading pictures to this campaign's gallery soon.
