Let's keep it light here, fellas. No political fisticuffs, please.

Yes, please. As a moderate independent I don't feel the other party had anything better to offer.

Bingo.

It amazes me how you allow him to live in your minds rent free.

Pretty apparent the chicoms have given him a suite in their minds.

This trade war won’t last any longer than the last one.

And Byrden please stick to Tiger tanks, politics and international affairs escape you.

Good to be back.

What exactly is going on here?

The Department of Homeland Security says 2,342 children were separated from parents in one summer month. Just keep that in mind

But Gary Totty posted that all those little children came alone. Really? Four year olds journeying across Mexico by themselves? Hundreds and hundreds of them?

Here's the thing. Nobody told Gary to shut up. DJ didn't call it "garbage" and Kip Rudge didn't say it "escaped him".

Yeah, you're gonna want to shut this down. Those with strong political opinions aren't going to want to keep them to themselves. But here's an idea - why not have a political forum under Armorama or Kitmaker? A place for folks to cut loose that doesn't interfere with the actual model forums?

It's been tried on other sites. Not a good idea. It generated so much hate and anger that the bad feelings carried over to other modeling-related forums.

Most did, as their parents dumped them on the border. Others were abandoned after crossing and yet some others became victims via actions of their parents landing jail for criminal acts. If you were to ever visit the area, you'd have a change of heart most likely.

It's a sad no win situation. Much evolves around dope, and human trafficking. Three years ago, those kids were actually locked up in detention centers. Food was terrible, and you can guess what the sanitation was like. Much better now, but could be better. Yet most everyone says they need to go back to their parents.

David,
Your last post was a total crock of [auto-censored]! You have no idea what is REALLY happening at our boarders, You need to find a better source for your information as none of the garbage you posted is remotely close to what’s going on there. It’s funny how the boys from other countries can comment on how we control our boarders when American troops are requested to protect theirs!

Peace out armorama

Requested to protect? Or just rush in?
Anyway, it seems that the whole discussion should be stopped here since, to my humble opinion, this forum is intended to discuss modelling issues, not semi world politics.
So, shall we all decide to close this discussion?
Before people get hurt. I think we should comment on modelling skills, not on what happens in modellers heads.

David,

Here’s a quick dirty explanation of what happened here? (This info is available to anyone who cares to look.)

Children were separated from parents because American law does not allow minors to be placed in adult detention facilities. The children’s parents attempted to enter the U.S. soveriegn territory illegally - in violation of dozens of federal statutes.

We here in the colonies feel that putting children in an adult penal situation endangers both the children and parents. I guess it’s just an American thing.

The parents were repeatedly warned that they would be detained upon illegal entry. These are the laws of the United States. Donald Trump did not pass them nor vote for them in Congress. In point of fact, these laws have been on the books for decades. Well, before you gave Trump his space in your head.

Border police have been enforcing these laws for years. Children were taken from parents when parents were detained virtually every day of your lifetime. That means, Obama, Bush2, Clinton, Bush1, Reagan and even the worlds dumbest peanut Jimmy Carter all had illegals arrested and placed in detention - without their children.

This was a manufactured crisis. Plain and simple. Trump does not enforce the law. He leads the executive branch of our government - despite what the media tells you.

You might well question the 2,000 odd children left in our custody. Could it possibly be that the “parents” abandoned those children when they failed to pry open the door for their entry into my country? Sadly they appear to be pawns of both their “parents” and the politicians. Frankly I’m proud my country will not give children to adults who cannot verify their identity or intentions.

Your anger is misplaced. Perhaps you might harbor a tad of resentment towards those who used these kids, abused these kids, in a misguided attempt to enforce their will on my nation.

Lame marketing attempt by Meng, I would have rather had it come with a Stormy Daniels figure like someone else mentioned.

As for non-US members commenting, don't believe the hype you read/watch in the media. The MSM in the USA, other than Fox news, basically thinks socialism is in our future and they want capitalism to die. Trump has sabotaged these plans by causing the US economy to strengthen so much that unemployment is now at 49 year low. The Democratic socialists are freaking out because their base is now getting off welfare, moving out of their parents basements, and getting jobs.

Meanwhile, those of us who have been working our entire adult lives are being rewarded with rapid growth in our 401K retirement plans.

One thing: please, be aware of the fact that also non-US citizens are able to think
And ‘yes’ a lot of the “other” countries do have social systems, which is far of socialistic.....

Just wondering what a simple, badly sculpted Chinese add to a model can turn loose (yes, including myself, but to see a guy telling the world that since he canceled an agreement water and air quality suddenly was at the highest level..... And since I travel a lot over this planet I think I can state that he is telling “alternative facts”)

Give it a rest. I could just as easily say that Fox News freaks out at anything that even smacks of "socialism," equating it with Communism and predicting the end of the world as we know it. Scare tactics help ratings and motivate voters, but they don't do anything except silence discussion.

Germany and France both have strong Socialist traditions and have been ruled by Socialist governments in recent decades. Yet Capitalism is very strongly-rooted in both societies. Worker councils in Germany, for example, help the factory to run smoothly and deal with issues that interact with both management and labor, and companies like the labor peace this has produced and that workers feel they have a say in how their work lives are. Yet when one German automaker tried to get a union accepted at an American factory, the GOP went into attack mode to defeat the union (which narrowly lost).

The strength of Germany's economy is proof that "socialism" isn't the end of the world. Far from it, their universal health care provided to all (and demonized by pundits who don't know the basics and tend to spread wild rumors about long waits for elective surgery, etc.) means companies don't have to worry about providing health care benefits. As the owner of a small business, I could certainly use some help providing health care for my workers and focusing instead on making money.

Instead of demonizing an opposing viewpoint, you might want to consider that thoughtful and educated folks exist on both sides of the economics discussion. Spreading an unsupported allegation that "the US mainstream media want capitalism to die" would mean most of them would be out of jobs, since the media is owned by large capitalistic companies. Even the NY Times tries to be profitable.

I didn't intend to offend anyone (much), allow me to clarify. In the US, most people who call themselves socialists typically idolize countries like Cuba and Venezuela for their "socialist" styles of government. I doubt either of those countries are like what you or other Europeans think of as socialism.

Back to Meng and their marketing. As a modeler, I would have much preferred a re-issue with new markings, crew figures, or even some of their tank accessory sets included.

Again, untrue. Cuba and Venezuela are failed states, but not because of having single-payer healthcare or free university tuition (something advocated by that firebrand of Communist values, Bernie Sanders).

Guys, get your facts straight before you talk politics or economics beyond your own backyard. I travel on business around the world and have seen socialist ideas working. Remember, Medicare was demonized by the AMA in the 1960s as "the end of medicine" and "all doctors will quit." Instead, most doctors are rich.
