WOW! Gotta say, this project has been fun to watch, and has been inspirational - really keen to see how it ends up! Love the camo, and the gate looks superb!

The gate looks great Jerry , I do see the fifth element on the bottom of Sean's ref pic. but I don't think it's a deal breaker , maybe this field had shorter cows ?

Sorry but I had to have the gate conform to a certain space and to make it look more like the prototype I had to alter its' width. One thing leads to another. A fifth rail wouldn't look right.
Got some veggie work finished though.





Still a ways to go. Here's a WIP fig for scale reference.

Fantastic Jerry, all of it but the hedge is particularly awesome. The gate’s fine, yours was shorter than the reference anyway so never needed the 5th rail, or the second diagonal rail on the other side

Long time lurker here Jerry, loving your work on this one. Meaningful to me as my grandfather did this at Gallipoli and on the Western Front through most of WWI.

The scenery is first rate for sure. What did you use for the foliage. The gate came out very nice as well.

Foliage is an assortment of model railroad stuff and dried plants. Thanks for the kind comment!

Normandy,late June 1944. The lines held by the III/26 PzGrenRegt(gep) have been under intense British arty fire for hours. One direct hit has eliminated a vital OP for the units' arty and mortar support.
A replacement Op is sent out with a motley collection of HQ personnel as escorts/helpers because that is all that is available after the last few weeks of attrition battles.
The Commonwealth arty has shifted their strikes to another impact zone but the men don't know where the Tommy Infantry are. Every tree and bush could be hiding death.
The area is littered with dud mortar rounds and they have heard the guys in the mortar platoon complain about sabotage lately.
The only casualty they see so far is of the Bovine persuasion. One of the many cattle and livestock in general impacted by this horrendous display of firepower.
The previous day their Bn had dismounted from their halftracks and pushed the British out of the estate to the north of Fontenay,only to lose the ground gained after a very hard days' fighting.

The team leader puts a man on security to cover the crossing of a danger zone. Who knows what is across the meadow in those woods?



The spool carrier runs past keeping an eye out.



His mate is making sure the wire keeps getting played out.



The replacement forward observer brings up the rear. he doesn't trust the HQ people with his heavy load of tripod and trench binos.


The last man should be pulling rear security as he hauls a spare spool of cable and a spare phone but he is usually a clerk at Bn HQ and has no idea.



Urgency is required but they still want to survive so all eyes are open.













Who knows what is beyond those trees?
