Kind of stoked. Early Santa package delivery from Hong Kong.
Reasonable parts count too.

Very much waiting to see a comparison between this and Amusing Hobby's version.

Mine arrived today also from Hong Kong. Gorgeous kit. I have two...one for a Panther dio and one for a Maschinen Krieger sci-fi dio.

Are the tires vinyl or styrene?

Vinyl/Rubber. Look nice though.

I'm sure they look fine, but vinyl often reacts badly to paint and weathering materials, and degrade over time (please, no one tell me how their Tamiya rubber band tracks from 1923 are still going strong, there are exceptions, but who wants to take a chance?).

I’ve already started to build mine. So far very good fits and details. Will see later how the tires hold paint. Maybe with luck some resin replacement wheels will be released but I’m not holding my breath on that one.

Just a few shots of one of the main components. Lots of small parts for the carpet monster but the overall fit is very good. Much too fiddley for me to make it workable, but I suppose it could be done.

Good start there, I look forward to seeing more soon. Making this movable does look like a daring task...
There will be many to follow now that there are two new kits out.

Can't wait to see more!

This is a really interesting kit with my name on it.

I notice Takom is also selling a "mystery" type kit where you get the crane and 1 of 6 or so panzer kits, but you don't know which one!

I think I will stick with the base crane kit.

These are the two main base towers. Still need to thread the cabling.

Some additional progress with the vertical towers. The kit also provides parts to build in travel mode which might also look interesting. If I do another one I'd do it being towed as part of the support train for a V2 rocket unit.

Beautiful job Chris!

It occurs to me if Takom is going to offer the choice of all these many optional tanks to accompany this gantry they had better be constructed with all separate engine cover plates as well as a separate driver/co-driver hatch plate.

An interesting maintenance diorama hardly ever seen would be that of changing out the transmission, requiring the forward hatch plate to be removed.

That's a great idea; it must have been tricky to get the transmission in/out without damaging anything!

I just saw a diorama on Facebook of a cutaway Millenium Falcon with one of these cranes (or one very similar) over it that I thought was very imaginative and nice.

I'd like to see that. Star Wars weaponry was based on German stuff, why not the gantry crane....
