YES! "GIZMOLOGY"!!! I like to make my own "gizmos", as well!!!

THAT keeps the "fun" in modeling- I made some great use of "gizmology" with a 1/35 TRUMPETER "What if" E-25 which I converted into an s.IG.33 auf E-25, with an open Engine/Transmission Bay. That's where I made use of the "gizmology"; I had no IDEA of the Engine/Transmission Assembly set-up in this "Paper-Panzer", so I had to "wing-it" with a good part of the components. In the open Fighting Compartment, I used a "stock" s.IG.33, minus the "Trail-assembly & Wheels", and then I also used Ammo, Ammo Bins and other stuff which I cannibalized from a spare DRAGON "38(t) Bison" kit. I "scratch-built" the Driver's Compartment. It was a lot of work, but it was worth the effort. Who SAYS I don't build any WWII German stuff???

Well the guy that owns the bar has a side room where he shows movies for the service men that frequent his bar 24/7 .
Went through the spares boxes and culled out anything that looked like I could make a movie projector with .
Hopefully it's a reasonable representation of a projector for a back room in the bar .













Took some bottoms from oil drums for the movie reels .



That's Hope and Crosby's first Road movie , 1941 Road to Zanzibar .





















































BEAUTIFUL WORK on that "gizmo-ed" MOVIE PROJECTOR!!!

I noticed the old Bob Hope & Bing Crosby and gorilla "Road To Zanzibar"- I think IT'S GREAT! Abbott & Costello are a "good bet", too. A couple of their pre-war movies were "Buck Privates" and "In the Navy", co-starring Dick Powell. Both of those movies also featured the Andrews Sisters. Boy, "Old Home Week, huh?

Just an idea: A couple of those old-style, round gray metal movie-reel containers labeled with the names of other movies might add a little bit of "interest", too...

GREAT WORK!!! I LOVE this kind of stuff!!!

Thanks guys , appreciate the comments and input .
Russ , you're right , I had cobbled up the reels and glued them in place and realized they were not really exact science for the film to pass between the lamp and the lens . However I had googled some pretty beefy table top projectors from the 1920's and 30's .
I'll have the film from the back spool entering the housing and then it'll be a Hogwarts fm inside the projector and exiting along side the lens area , more non science but this is pretty much wallpaper like the cooler . The main focus will be in the middle of the bar .
I'm just happy it resembles a projector enough for my purposes .

Great projector, it’ll look perfect enough with a metallic gr*y or blackish finish. Lens cap…?

AND - IT - WORKS! I just love it

I had a feeling this one might come off the "reels", you got me hooked now brudda!

Don't forget the HD bar stools, complete w/ Captain's style 3/4-surround armrests! I know you can Cheyenne, because I still remember your Public Pool interiors.

I would have had this done sooner but my son's got me addicted to Red Dead Redemption 2 , incredible game !!!

I repositioned the reels to feed the projector and while I was rehabing it I hollowed the projector out and added the inside lens and lamp box and various small rollers to feed and pass the film .
I just also noticed I have to move the front arm of the back reel over , I forgot to glue it down .

3 words – genius ossum scratchbuilding. Trying to guess what you’ll use for the film itself, you know we’re expecting each frame to be clearly visible with fractional differences in movement of the subject accurately depicted (don't forget to cut all those sprocket holes too

Do I see some WARRIORS US Tankers there? I WISH WARRIORS/CUSTOM DIORAMICS were still in biz- They made some GREAT STUFF!!!

PS- If I may say, I would have thinned those reels down a bit around the holes and the edges- I can remember being on the "Film Squad" in 7th and 8th grades, and those big reels were made out of some pretty thin metal stampings... Just saying, NOT criticizing...

I love the film projector. It's so great to see so many familiar pieces put into such creative and great uses to create something so practical. The overall effect is magnificent and totally conveys your intention. Great job.

Must be a 35 mm set-up... I think if it were 16mm, which was most often the format, the reels would be larger diameter and the projector a little smaller.

I used to show a ton of 16mm films in the snack bar at the Student Union in my college days. I remember them well. I think the standards for 16mm reels are 12" or 15" depending on amount of film per reel. Just think that it is a little too "beefy" to use your term.
