Danish Army received a number of Staghound Mk.IIIs in 1946. Would they have been the US O.D. they came from the factory with or were they repainted SCC 15?

The Danish Staghounds where most likely delivered in SCC15. They where put in to service with a mix of Danish and British Numbers, so they can not have been repainted at the beginning. When they where repainted the where painted in a Danish OD color. Tamiya XF 51 is found to be a good match.

That being the case they would have been US O.D. The Staghounds were built in the US and would have US paint. (like Lend Lease Shermans My understanding is the only US equipment to be repainted SCC15 were the Shermans rebuilt as Fireflies) Was not sure if the Brits refurbed/ repainted them before handing them over. Any idea when the Danes would have repainted them?

Remember that the Danish ones had the Crusader turret, so the must have been British rebuilt Staghounds, so maybee they also where repainted with Scc15.
Looking at photoes they have been repainted in 1947/48. If you are using the Bronco set - please note, that the decals are wrong.

Staghounds with the Crusader turret would certainly have been re-painted in SCC15. Possibly disruptive black pattern: that was only prohibited on tanks, not other AFVs. Earlier models would have been OD.

Another color scheme option :

The pictured Mk.III is currently (?) undergoing repair at Jyske Dragonregiment Veteran Panser Forening by a group of enthusiasts in Holstebro on behalf of the Danish Army Museum.

Good point about the MkIIIs and the Crusader turret. Didn't think about that being a British mod. / rebuild like the Fireflys. What is wrong with the Bronco decals? Frenchy, that photo looks like the camo is RAL 6003 / 8012. (White is seagull poop!)

As I remember it the number for the Danish Staghound. In the kit is 88.264. The correct number for a Danish Staghound at that time would. Be 83.261 - 83.268. 83.xxx was for vehicles of armoured car squadrons within The Danish Brigade in Germany. Also the Danish Army Badge in fron of the registration number is missing. i believe the correct number for the one in the set would be 83.266.

As far as the registrations go, is the background red or black? Photos I've seen show the numbers on a black background. And would they have had the "Army" or combined "Armed Forces" crest on the plate? (Are they painted on the vehicle or are they "plates"? Photo of the Hussars' Staghound seems to have a shadow along the lower edge like a bolted on plate.) Does anybody make correct registration decals? (and other Danish armor decals? ) What unit is the yellow tri angle in the Bronco kit? What markings would the brigade in Germany be?

Thats a lot of questions :-). in the period 1946-1950. The Staghounds had registration 83.261-83.268 most likely these where painted on the vehicles with the army badge in front. From 1950 the Hussar vehicles har 50.xxx as registration and the dragoons had 51.xxx The School for NCO’s had 59.xxx. These Numbers where painted on a red background always with the army badge in front, There are no official companies making decals - but I might be alle to help you. Just contact me directly. I also have some more photoes.
