Hi everyone,
More work on Takom's Luchs. Getting the wheel hubs on was a bit of a challenge.


But worse than that, a little research turned up something very important that I could not let slide. The vehicle itself is covered in weld seams whereas the Takom kit has none.

So, I made my own with stretched sprue and Tamiya Ultra Thin:












There may be more to add. Most of my modelling time for the weekend was taken up with welds.

And that's my work progress. The machine chassis is built. Engine and radiator too. All this is ready for painting.








While specifying the machine's interior, I will deal with the grille from above. I have to scratch it.

Looking great Gaz. Very nicely done. I have to do the same thing for my ShKh Dana build for "Got Wheels". I usually use sprue of a different colour so I can see the effect on the kit - my eyes not being what they used to be.

Kalin, a very fast build so far, considering the detail in that.

I have a HB SdKfz 222 kit in the stash - their kit #82442. It has been gathering dust since I bought it when it was first released nearly 10 years ago. The box is so big, it is always at the bottom of a pile....

Peter, it might be time to turn the pile...
It was the first Hobbiboss' model, a month later I bought a second one.

Construction done on the Italeri 234/1










I didn't like the kit 20mm barrel, felt it looked to stubby, so I replaced it with 6mm longer brass tube; so now I have a L/65 Flak38 instead of a L/55 KwK38. Should've checked the armament before making the change. Looks better though, so I'm keeping it.

That kit brings out memories Richard, especially the knock out marks, gaps in tyre halves, etc. Looks good though. I have to agree the longer barrel version looks better.

I've been slowly moving forward with the Luchs. I decided to go with an early version in Gelboliv. I decided to complete and weather the underside before I add the fragile parts to the upper works. Took an hour with the airbrush to try to eliminate all of unpainted bits. Only partially successful.

Yes, it has hard to get in every nook and cranny when there is so much to get paint on. Looks like some brush based touch ups on the too hard to get to places. I have a brush that I bent the ferrule on, which I use to get 'around corners'. Amazing how often it is used.

One day they will make an airbrush with a flexible nozzle!

More done on the Luchs. I've got the wheels on with a base coating of pastels. I've added more weld seams, and more detail to the smoke dischargers. The Magic Models barrel is only dry fitted at this point.
