Moving on.
I glued the bottom of the elevation cylinders to their base being shure they were movable.


Then inserted the upper cylinders over the bottom ones. spread the sides and inserted the pins into their openings. On the left side it's really loose because their is another part that goes into the large opening and moves with the gun.

There are 2 different length travel locks.

Now the gunner seats, They would have you snap the seat frame to the mount, this is asking for problems.

It's easier to trim off the bottom bump on the mount and drill a hole sutable to what size rod you have.

Insert and glue the rod being shure the frame can move.

Trim off the extra rod and install the rest of the parts.


Easy yes/no ?

Now for the Transport Frames and Wheels.
The Frames need a lot of filling and sanding on their mating surfaces.

And before anyone says the kit rim is larger, it's not!

Just out of the paint shop.

A little detail, I made some ends for the tow bars, probably not accurate but what the hell it works.


Now for a little detailing and then the final assembly.

To install the tires on the rims.
First check the sizes of the openings, one will be larger than the other. You will want the larger to be to the inside.

Install the rim as shown, this will keep the paint from being damaged.

Note the tight fit between the tire and rim.

There will be a gap on the back side.

The front and rear wheel units are the same.


I had some fine electrical wire that I used for the cables.

If you are building this kit in the travel position you will have to glue this all together, as it will not stay otherwise.

I also glued the arms in the folded position.


If you wanted the firing position, you should have bought the Amusing Hobby kit, it's a lot cheaper.

You can't really steer this thing as the wheels are too close to the fenders and hit them when turning.

I folded the railing on the loading platform so I could tuck it under the end of the gun. Hey where else is it going to go when traveling?

Just some thoughts on this kit and build.

First the minuses
#1 No decals or engraving for the Range setting, and altitude dials.
#2 Wheel units are too close to the fenders preventing this gun from going almost anywhere except in a straight line.
#3 Mix of gun loading platforms, one is a very course grid, and the other 2 are flat plates with a little texture on them.
#4 No end parts to hook up to a tractor.
#5 No cables for the 4 Reels on the fenders.
#6 Anchors shown in the firing position when gun is being towed.
#7 Openings in the tires for the wheels are larger on one side than the other leading to a bad fit of the tires on the rims.
#8 No brake mechanisms on the inside sides of the brake drums.
#9 Rail on the loading platform should have been made fodable so it could be tucked under the gun for travel.
#10 This kit should be built in either Firing or traveling mode, the gun unit won't stay very well on the wheel units if not glued there.

Ok, now for the pluses.

#1 Plastic is easy to work with.
#2 A very desirable subject.
#3 I can't think of anything else.

These are only my thoughts and opinions, but would I reccomend this kit?

Thanks for the detailed review. If I remember correctly, Amusing Hobby Flak40 was not better so we are out of options

As to the unsteerable wheel dollies: Is there any reference measurements as to if the overall wheelbase of the individual dolly is too long or the rotation point is located too far inboard towards the gun?

Except Amusing Hobby is not an option if you want to build the Flak 40 in transport mode. AH does not include the bogies/trailer components, only the gun itself. So Hobby Boss becomes the only option, although Bold Division does still have their trailer available for the AH kit. And of course, the tire problem with the HB kit can be remedied with the Bold Division resin tires that are available separately.
