Starting a 1/35 m1a2 half-track. I never did allied ww2 armor before so I could use some guidance! Right now I'm working on the chassis. Were the chassis all black or olive drab when they rolled out of the factory? Thanks!

Chassis in OD. The WWII US Army loved to paint everything in OD.

Red oxide? Is that like a red-brown or a red-orange? I looked it up and it looks like both

One other question ... The floor.... Is it the same OD as the rest of the body?

Yes, same shade of OD for the interior and exterior.

There are some photos that look to be lifted from the TM for the vehicle at this link.

US manufacturing quality was pretty high and extensive chipping would be rare on those vehicles.

US WWII red oxide is a red brown. The best color match I found was Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer. I had some color samples on my WWII Jeep that I used. As has been stated before, WWII paint was tough, and I did leave some original primer on my Jeep when I sand blasted the frame and suspension.
