I'm puttying my Tamiya Kubelwagen together and apparently that thing i see on so many vehicles is a "Notek Light" as it states in the directions anyways, what is its use? Night time driving/black outs?

Incase you're confused to what I"m talking about:

Hi Shain,
You're right it is a black-out drive light.
regards,
Robert

How come the picture shows it mounted on the right fender, and the story Dave found says it is supposed to be mounted on the left fender.

Which one is right?

Picture shows it on the left fender. Look closely - behind the headlight is the side panel of engine hood.

Looked at the first page of photos here, and the Notek light seems always to be fitted to left side of the hood and not to the mudguard

I believe they were mounted on the left side of the hood on the
Kubelwagen, and on the left fenders of other vehicles. Location probably was where it would do it's designed job most effectively, not just stuck on someplace because it look cool there. But I'm pretty sure "mounted on the left" meant exactly that, since it certainly wouldn't do the driver much good mounted on the right.

As for it's exact location on different vehicles, I'd suggest looking for photos, as they actually did have engineers, brains and sliderules to figure out where it would work most effectively on each vehicle.
