This idea came to me while reading ”Tigers in the Mud” (GREAT BOOK!) in front of the TV. A commercial came on, and everything clicked…
How do you feed a hungry tank crew, and get them back into the fight quickly? Why not a tank drive-through?

I had a lot of fun just planning this one. It all came together when I found the Custom Dioramics figure of a chef.
I had been thinking of building a project around an early Tiger I. No Zimmerit & clean, dry transfer, turret numbers. I really like the poses of the Warriors figures. They look natural and alive – not stiff or artificial. I added Archer uniform badges and shoulder straps – they look pretty good to me.

The doors of the castle, with a little carving, formed a nice pair of golden arches. It actually took two complete kits to get the right components. I added a lot of rubble around the building, as in too many dioramas I see, the question always arises: ‘where’s the rest of the building?’

The kits were built pretty much straight out of the box. I adjusted some of the Tiger’s road wheels to make them a little uneven on the ground.
I’m still not sure if I have mastered the paint-chip techniques. I use a sharpened tooth pick to place the paint. It seems to work pretty well… I use mostly Polly-S acrylics as I love the water clean-up. Washes are artist’s oils. A lot of dry-brushing to get the proper weathered appearance.

The street sections are latex. I’m not sure I like them. They’re hard to glue and feel insecure; but they look pretty good.

As always, a lot of odd stuff came from my unmanageably large collection of spares, left-overs and miscellaneous kit parts.

As so many of my diorama projects have lately, it rapidly became very expensive. Of course it’s all relative. When I was younger (a long time ago) I couldn’t afford the fancy after-market stuff, but I didn’t have the experience to use them, either.

Looks great. I love the "Golden Arches." Great job.

Its really nice, I Ilike it alot, but you should have some food lying around! Maybe a tray on the tank with some food. Just my Two Cents

Congratulations Scott a most unusual and imaginative diorama of the lighter side of troops in battle.
A fantastic scene, great build and smashing painting.
