OK, the stump the chump game continues:

Who was the first US unit to mount dozer blades to tanks (see, I'm giving you the type)?

Need to answer who, when, where for this one.

Okay, I'll be the first chump to take a crack at this one!

I assumed the question meant in a combat role - soooo, 750th Tank Battalion supporting the 99th Infantry Division in mop-up operations in the Ardennes after the Battle of the Bulge. Jan 26 to Feb 5, 1945; Elsenbuchel Woods near Elsenborn, Germany.

If I ain't right - give me some credit for digging deep here

I don't have a clue to this one, but I would think that it was done in South Pacific before being done in the ETO. Then again what do I know.

A bit of info on the wwiivehicles site:

M4 Dozer: First use was in Italy in 1943. Used in many locations afterwards.

I am betting the M4 was not the first dozer tank. Probably M3 Lee's in N. Africa or Sicily.

OK, we'll give it to Jim...but minus 1 point for doubting the M4
In April 1944, the 197th Ordnance Battalion got bulldozer blades from the engineers and welded them to some M4 tanks and T2 tank recovery vehicles in Tunisia. Four were shipped to Anzio where they were used operationally. In May proper dozer kits were shipped from the states (as opposed to the stop-gap measure initiated in Tunsia).

BTW only 6 of the 16 dozer tanks reached Omaha Beach and one of those lost its blade.

Oh well...I was still on this page when I logged off earlier. Just reconnected to answer (something of an answer at least) and I'm too late. Wrong anyways.

That was if you got all parts correct. Since you only got partial credit, I'm sending you a Zhengdefu 1/48 scale tank kit (batteries not included).
