Hey All,

Need some help here. I have been working on for some time building a German Ferdinand from the Kursk area in 1943. I am building out the interior. Strangely, trying to find pictures of the interior of one of these beasts is harder than I thought. I have the book about the 654th Schwere Panzerjager battalion by JJ Fedorowicz but there is not a single picture of the interior or diagram of the inside. A search on Google did not help any too.

Can anyone help out with this quest? Is there another book I should be looking at? Does anyone have some pictures then can share?

Also, how was the big rear escape hatch on the early Ferdinand attached? The pictures I have seen show it not there at all when it was opened. Almost suggests that it fell off when it was opened and was not attached by a hinge.

Many, many thanks,

Marty

P.S. This build is unrelated to the kit review by Vinnie from today. I bought the original Dragon kit a couple of months ago.

Marty,
I have the interior photos of the Elephant tank at Aberdeen Proving Ground from the old AFV Interiors site. The photos are of an un-restored vehicle so I am not sure how much help they will be to you....but I will send them to you if you like. Just PM me your E-mail address.

Images of the Ferdinand interior are rather scarce. I have the two AJ Press books on the Ferdinand/Elefant, as well as the ModelArt book, and there are virtually no images of the interior in any of the books.

Marty ... not the best source, but take a look at the Sd. Kfz. 184 Elefant, Italy 1944 thread on Planet Armor. Some great work there and should be useful regarding the ferdinand. Maybe if you contact Johannes, he can supply some images or tip you where to look.
