I like the subject. My first impressions, though, are it's too bright green. Maybe a wash with a dark green and maybe a little brown to bring out the creases and lines may help. I'm not a figure builder so I don't really know other than it looks too green.

Penpen

I like this figure (neat subject and pose).

The only thing you might consider is something to bring out the many creases and folds of the uniform a bit more. Perhaps a dark wash applied to those areas???

I like the base green and your light green highlighting. If you have some artistic license and can experiment, perhaps a different color on the backpack or the belt and knee bands might be complimentary to the figure.

I'm not being critical here, just some food for thought. I like this subject and you've done well. Thanks for the pics and the opportunity to comment.

Nice figure, and nice little base too, the grass came out pretty good I think.

I agree though that the figure is a bit to "monochrome", although this may be accurate to the fugure. A bit more variation in colour and different shades would probably help.

The shading you have done has come out well though, ands so I wouldn't be frightened to experiment a bit.

Thanks for comments !
The grass was made with paint brush bristles.

I think that now, I'll be adding a few steps to the painting of that model :
- apply a matt cote to protect the existing paint
- apply a dark brown wash

Hi,

yes, Link may be spam now, but the original post is from 2003 (!).

Maybe it is just outdated ?

Cheers

I have no communications with the poster, but I did have communications with Phebus Creations. You can see the products here.

http://www.phebuscreation.com

The owner/sculptor, Alain Barrais, passed away in 2012 from a heart attack. I emailed the website a few times and received no replies until years later his wife replied saying that she sold the remaining kits he had with eBay France. I believe the website is now static (a dead website) and no one maintains it (hence the last news post was in 2012).

Alain did have one person working for him, but I doubt that person went on to continue the business.

eBay has a few of his figures left. His figures are now considered rare and collectible as they're the only ones made in 1/24 and 1/35 scale.

Alain was a very good seller and a visionary in the Sci-Fi figure market. He had great enthusiasm for the hobby and produced new kits each year. I do miss him and his products.

Hi friends,

@ Peter: thanks for your informations. I've checked the website. It is very nice, with many good things. The ''alien'' section with colonial marines in 1:35 is fantastic.

Alain was a great guy for sure, really enthusiast for the hobby. Thanks for posting !

Regards

Giovanni
