Tireur – 2e REP

The figure is 120 mm resin from Metal Modeles, Foreign Legionaire Zaire 1978.

On the 13th of May 1978, a force of Katangan rebells from Angola occupied the mining town Kolwezi in Zaire. They looted the town and killed government soldiers, civilians, Belgian and French employees of a mining company. At the request of the Zairean government, the Operation Léopard was on. The main force of 2nd French Foreign Parachute Regiment (2e REP) was airlifted to Kinshasa and dropped on Kolwezi on the 18th of May. The 4th company, (4eCie, 2eREP) was dropped on the 20 May. They wear the blue scarves tied round the left shoulder as field sign, and specialise in sniping and demolitions. Operation Léopard was a success and the town was recaptured within four days with minor casualties in the ranks of the French paratroopers.

Hi, Nice piece of figure you've done here ! Congratulations. Just a comment : in fench "trieur" means sorter in english. I guess the word you want is "tireur", if you refer to sniper. Best regards, Julien
