The Engine Room and Fuel Stowage
Well I do like engines and whilst I pondered what else to do forward and how I might do it I turned my attention to the back of the boat. Both the engines and fuel stowage area were a bit of a challenge and whilst little of the fuel tanks will be seen I was intrigued as to how I might build these. The answer came form my good wife’s hair dye, not that she needs any, but I was roped into applying some L’Oreal Paris Excell 10 and in this packaging was a small 2 part plastic container for the gloves used in the application process. The larger of the two parts seem perfect for the tanks and as we had bought this item in bulk during a sale I had readily available 4 fuel units. There are actually 6 required within the hull but I think 4 give an indication of what would be there so that’s all that got added.
At the same time as working on the fuel tamks and engine room layout I also decided to add the gun support for the 20mm Breda.
I couldn't find a 1/35 scale engine to suit the part so I used the CMK 1/32 scale Daimler Benz BD 605D and converted it as best as possible from the one part picture I had and the drawings. The reduction unit was made from spare parts from the Bren Gun Carrier and a general 'Heath Robinson' assortment of bits from the spares box.
