3D Printed Military Robot

  • move
This diorama showcases a 3D printed military bomb disposal robot produced by Hussein using a 3D printer. He had purchased the printer several months ago, but until recently he had not able to use it for anything related to scale modelling hobby. Then one day on the internet he came upon a brilliant 3D design by "Nemanja Petkov" of a bomb disposal robot used by police and army. He decided to 3D print this model and turn it into a small diorama of this unique subject.

Hussein transformed the design into individual pieces similar to a scale model kit and printed each piece separately. The resulting pieces had a good fit and were easy to glue together, but the surfaces required a lot of sanding, filling and primer in order to remove the 3D printing surface lines.

After assembly, Hussein painted and weathered the model, ending up with an unusual and interesting finished product. He feels it came out with decent quality, and despite the fact that 3D printing technology is still just in its early stages, in the near future 3D printers will become a valuable tool for every scale modeler.

Hussein, that really looks nice. I like the presentation. I am sure the EOD techs are happy to have the robot get that IED out of the ground! I think the 3D printer technology really will be revolutionary. Once again, nice work sir. Best wishes, Ian

Thanks Guys, I always thought un-maned vehicles should be more addressed by our hobby but unfortunately there are not many kits covering this subject.
