This is Tiger tactical number 231 (Lt. Zabel) from the 503 sPzAbt which took part in a two day long engagement in January 1943 on the Eastern Front. Over the course of 2 days of sustained combat this Tiger received 252 hits from all calibers of weapons ranging from AT rifles to 76.2mm. None of the hits penetrated the tank, and it was able to drive a further 60km before breaking down. The crew survived unscathed and the tank was taken back to Germany to meet an unknown fate. The book Tiger by Thomas Anderson provides an excellent account of the engagement, and served as my primary reference for the build. I wanted to depict the Tiger as it may have appeared just after the engagement. Thank you for the kind words! I was pretty happy with the end results. The base kits for this Tiger was a combination of the Cyber Hobby Tiger I (Kit# 9142), and Dragon's Tiger I Initial Production s.Pz.Abt. 502 Leningrad Region 1942/3 (Kit #6600) The barrel with canvas cover came from Panzer Art. I also took various parts from Dragon Kits 6252, 6406, and 6700.All of the painting and weathering was done with AK Interactive and Ammo of Mig products - paints, washes and pigments.
