Nicholas Bruccoleri shares some photos of his Dragon Panther D with us. The kit used is Dragon Models Limited 1/35 Scale ‘39-‘45 Series Kit No. 6299; Sd.Kfz. 171 Panther D - Premium Edition along with Bronco's AB3541 1/35 Panzerkampfwagen Panther Early Type Workable Track Link Set. Nicholas bought this model on eBay already partially started. He finished the kit about 5 years ago and it sat on the shelf for years unpainted until this spring. It was built stock with the exception of the tracks which came from Bronco. The Bronco tracks were advertised as workable, but they really didn't hold up to handling, coming apart at the slightest touch. So Nicholas glued them together using Tamiya slow drying cement and fitted them to the bogies before they dried. The tank was painted using the modulation style employing Tamiya dark yellow/white and yellow mix. More white was added for the highlights. It was weathered using washes, with fading and streaks reproduced using Ammo and AK products. Chipping done by using AV model color 822 black brown camo. The mud on the under carriage was reproduced by mixing Mig pigments with real back yard dirt in a white glue soup. It was then splatted on the tank using an old brush and and air brush.
