Chilean Leopard 2A4

  • move
The model used for this build is the HobbyBoss offering in 1/35th scale. The base model has been improved via the use of Orange Hobby antennas, Bronco tracks, a Leopard Workshop main gun, some scratch work and a Dolp Modellbau figures. The model has been painted with a mix of products from K4, Model Air and Tamiya acrylics. The weathering was also performed with products from Ammo of Mig and AK Interactive enamel products and K4 pigments. The decals were home made by a friend for me.

FROM: REGION DE VALPARAISO, CHILE

Active duty Chilean Navy Officer, close to 20 years of service. Happily married and 2 beautiful kids. Ive been modelling on a regular basis since 1997. Mainly focused in "modern" armor in 1/35, but recently Ive started with WWII subjects as well. Particularly keen on NATO and Chilean Armed Forces ...

Great build in an original Camo and markings scheme! Klaus, is there any Chilean vehicles you have not build? Seems like you have s great and impressive collection.

Thanks Darren for posting my build! Jesper, thanks for your comments. I have built a lot of Chilean Armed Forces subjects indeed, but I still have a lot to do, mainly artillery and some tanks, there are a lot of "obscure" examples I have not tackled yet. Cheers

Call me naïve, but could you (or anyone else?) let us know what makes this uniquely Chilean? I looked it over and couldn't see anything that stood out, except the overall tan, that is...

Thanks Lucas! Frank, only external difference from base model Leopard 2A4 is the use of US style antennas (one usually white and the other usually green) and the tan paint (these tanks were repainted in factory prior to delivery) plus markings. The rest, pretty much the same as german service tanks. Cheers

Thanks, good to know. I wondered if the sensor package or sights might be different in the same way that the Swedish model is from the German standard.
