AMX-13 / M24 Chaffee

This tank was a prototype and used the turret from a French AMX-13 and the hull of a US M24 Chaffee, hence the two different colors for the turret and hull. The black and white photo I found online does show two different colors on the hull and turret.

The model is a combination of the old Heller AMX-13 kit and the old Italeri M24 Chaffee kit sold under the Gasoline brand....

The model was painted with Tamiya olive drab lightened with a little dark yellow for the hull and running gear while the turret was painted with a mixture of Tamiya XF-13, XF-58 and XF-15 with a touch of XF-3 to get a French green. I saw this on a post from someone on this site, but can't remember who.....I then gave it a wash of raw umber and in some places black oils like the running gear. I drybrushed the model with the base colors lightened with white. The French flag decal on the front came from Takom kit (No. 2063) and the registration from a Verlinden dry transfer set. I tried to replicate the number in the reference photo but just went with a generic one. The last thing was a dusting of MiG pigments, being a prototype I went very light on weathering. The figure is from ADV/Azimut and was painted with Vallejo acrylics.
