L4500A with Bilstein Crane

AFV Club has announced a new variant of the Kfz. 100 L4500A with the 3 Ton. Bilstein Crane. Widely used by field workshops, it will be a beautiful model on its own or as a part of a scene.

Over 15.000 units of different variants of the 4.5 Ton Büssing Nag truck were built during the war, and it use was widespread for all the German Army. L4500A entered service in 1942.

Among the several variants in service, one of them was intended for field workshops and had installed a 3 Ton Bilstein crane plus a large tool box. The crane was powerful enough to lift engines, guns or even a whole turret. It featured also four stabilization legs that were deployed for safer operation of heavy weights.

The possibilities for a diorama are almost endless, combined with disassembled tanks, towing other trucks or vehicles, lifting parts, etc.

No release date has been announced yet.

It's nice to see the plastic models companies are finally understanding that we have enough Tigers models and we need something "newish" like tractors and cranes lol. I hope you understand what I mean by this

I know Wespe makes them in resin already, but I would like some support vehicles to go with my Dragon V-2 missile. Would also like to see retoolings of some old stuff like Italeri's Sdkfz 305 Tankwagen. And am I the only one pissed that vehicles are 1/35 and aircraft are 1/32 making dioramas involving both not quite right?

There is a couple of planes out there that are 1/35 but mostly not. Trains are limited as well but not as much with trumpeter having a selection. I was thinking it would be nice to place a damaged allied plane on a flatbed. traveling back to deep Germany for evaluation or rebuild.

digger, you could always switch to 1/48. The choices are increasing, Tamiya has a nice solid line started, AFV Club has a few kits and I believe that they have the Skybow Tigers...there is a great line from a French company called gaso.line - they actually produce the Bussing Nag/Bilstein combo as a resin kit. Wespe also has a 1/48 line....and of course it goes without saying that aviation is well represented in 1/48.

I look forward to any engineer or maintenance equipment - but how 'bout a 1/35 Dodge 3/4 ton post war truck. Loved mine with the 2nd Armored Div.
