Panda Hobby has announced their next armour model in 1/35th scale. The model is due for release at the end of this year and is of the PLA-ZTZ-99A MBT.
It would seem that Chinese armour is becoming the flavour of the moment with some manufacturers as we now have a PLA-ZTZ-99A MBT coming from Panda Hobby. I cannot give you any details of the model at this time as we have only been sent an image of the box top, but we will update you as soon as possible on this future release.

Hi; While watching the Parade Live, it Did Appear that the Term ZTZ was Correct, as the Prodcast Crew refered too them as ZTZs. What the Correct Industrial Designator is; Is Probably Secret. The Parade was Very Interesting to watch and I Counted Two (2) New Paint Scemes. CHEERS; MIKE.

ZTZ is abbreviation. Romanization of Chinese. I believe it stands for Zhuzhan Tanke Zhong. Zhuzhang = Main battle, Tanke = tank, Zhong = heavy. So, a light tank would be ZTQ which is abbreviation for Zhuzhan Tanke Qing. Qing = light

I asked Google about "ZSL ZBD PTL ZTZ" and got this link: LINK as one of the suggestions. It is a discussion forum and a few pages down in that thread there is a list explaining what the letters mean (but no chinese words ....) / Robin

I like this type, but there are three kits of Hobby Boss, a pair of Meng and one or more of Bronco, not to count the obsolete kit of Trumpeter of the similar type 98... I wonder if the internal Chinese market can absorb all those kits, but I fear that Panda is entering in an already saturated niche of market. I wonder if this kit is provided with Chinese crew. It would be an interesting addition. Besides, pre-cut masks for the pixel camo would add a lot of interest to this kit, if included.

To be honest, I am not longer sure that a Meng kit do exist, I've looked on Ebay for it but I can't find. Probably it's my mistake.

It does exist, but it an upcoming release part of their heroic scale range.

I am of the opinion that this is a totally different tank. I went thru most of the thread at China Defense Forum the past two days. The chassis is different than the previous two versions represented by Hobby Boss and Bronco. The wheel spacing is different and the engine deck and back end are different too. At a glance, it even seems that the chassis may be shorter than the 2 previous versions. Also the driver's position is clearly offset from the center. The best views of the engine deck can be found in the recent parade photos. On CDF, there was a lot of discussion about the turret height. At first glance it appears the turret height was increased but the latest consensus was the turret shape was changed thus giving the illusion. Also, there is no bustle mounted ammunition auto loader in any of the models. There was a screen capture posted on CDF of the bustle opened up showing the electronics. From the pictures posted to CDF, there are two kinds of Commanders independent viewer mounted. There is the same version of the commander's sight as mounted in the Hobby Boss and Bronco kits and then there is the newer version that is larger and very cylindrical (like the one on the Leclerc but smaller size).

Hi Guys; Yea these are the Differences that I noted also, and IMHO I think that this version is Probably A version made with more T-90 like upgrades. And it looks like the Chinese and Russians are Co-operating on Armor Technology. IMHO that was the Reason Mr. Putin was recieving Cart Blanch treatment during the Anniversary Parade !! Do you think China is giving Russia Finnancial Aid !! ----GEE look how Fast the Chinese got the BMP-3s Turret ! CHEERS; MIKE.
