I'm always glad to see more reference material come out, but this one looks very chaotic in its organization (a frequent problem with amateur authors who want to include everything but the kitchen sink).

That "complex camouflage scheme" on the USMC Abrams as stated in the book, was/is nothing more than very fine dust atracted by the "orange peel" on the borders of the sprayed paint. There are pics of the very same effect on other modern MBTs like Leopard 2.

I think it also says that complex scheme USMC Abrams is a M1A2. Unless my research is incorrect the, only the US Army uses the A2.

Does it have gems from the TM like "Always enter the loader's hatch feet first"? Former M1A1 tanker. Yes, it was an awesome machine.

Maybe they've believed the caption I've found online for this picture "5 M1A2 Abrams MBTs with the USMC Regimental Combat Team stuck in a sandstorm in Kuwait during Operation Enduring Freedom, 2003" H.P.

Of course the USMC only has A1s. In common with other cousins, the one in the pic still retains the rear hull fittings for the "old" APU and the removable tail light cluster.

How about the more obvious TC's cupola and lack of a CITV?

Received my copy a few days ago and I think it's okay ... got some nice pics some interesting background stories etc. ... I don't regret purchasing this book at all. Besides having a few "inconsistencies" I don't rely on a sole source for information anyway when doing my research for a project. Cheers Christopher

How about the more obvious TC's cupola and lack of a CITV?[/quote] Because it is very obvious being an A1! Went for other details worth to comment.
