That's a groaning load for that Beetle. I'd like to see a photo to support the notion they could haul that much with their under-powered motor.

reminds me of the first few model cars I built when I was about 7 years old. proudly showing it to my older cousin, he reminded me "you don't have to use Every decal!"

I wonder if crews of the testing vehicles of the FAV had MOLLE rucks and hydration systems?
NOV 08, 2019 - 07:08 AM
My thoughts exactly. I think some Live-Resin swingarms might work although I doubt the FAV had the M240, but the M-60. I'd be more interested in an open rollbar roof with no cover conversion so that the gunner can fire stooping from the passenger seat. Most FAVs have no roof.

The VW can clearly handle 4 full grown troops and their gear, it can handle some boxes of potatoes. But the "facine" on the front looks like it would not work in that location.
NOV 08, 2019 - 12:16 PM
That's what I was thinking. That facine would catch on anything unless the kubel was being driven on a flat surface.

Clearly the 27 or so HP that the tiny engine could muster sure went a long way. The facine sure looks out of place and was more likely to be used as firewood than as a traction aid in North Africa. Still, it looks ridiculously overloaded.
