The THING is now available.

(No this isn't a Sci fi release posted in the wrong place, read on -Editor)

The THING is a device for making static grass stand up straight.

It comes as a kit that you assemble and attach to a 9V battery or 12 VDC.

The design is based on a 12 VDC negative ion generator. Negative ion generators provide an electrical charge to individual static grass fibers and The THING'S design takes advantage of this charge by supplying a convenient path to ground... in this case your project. The result is static grass that stands upright.

Everything you need is in the kit ,all pre cut and ready for assembly, including detailed instructions.

Also included with the kit is a 1 - 2 oz. bag of static grass so you can get started right away.

Price:$74.99

IMPORTANT NOTE:

This static grass device is based on a 12 VDC negative ion generator and produces 15kV of electricity, the utmost in care is required when dealing with any high voltage device.

Presumably it works using static electricity....you can get the same effect by rubbing a balloon on your sweater and holding it over the grass.

How lazy do you have to be? This is a neat tool but come on now, who in their right mind is going to spend that kind of money on something that they can already do without the tool? I have a plastic container with a lid. I put my static grass inside it and shake the devil out of it. I open the lid and sprinkle grass on my diorama and it stands up by itself. What is so difficult about that? Why do I need this tool?

Everyone knows there are people in this hobby that buy the latest thing just to go to the club meetings and say that bought it. Sort of like the guy at the bar who told me he spent $250 on a pair of Oakley sunglasses. I told him I spent $4.50 on mine at Wal Mart... Shaun /More money than sense
