Pegasus Hobbies is a California based, on-line hobby store. Recently I picked up a snippet of news that they were starting to produce their own 1/72nd scale armor kits and figures...
Pegasus Hobbies, is producing their first injection-moulded plastic kit, a 1:72nd scale Maus. As well a the Maus, they are producing a set of 46, 1:72nd scale Waffen SS Infantry.

I have seen images of the sprues of the infantry set and apart from the drawback to many modellers that they are being produced in soft plastic (reminiscent of the 'Airfix' type) the photos I have seen are truly impresive... 46 figures are contained in the set with 17 different poses. The figures are all wearing the Camo 'smock' and come armed with a variety of weapons. Though primarily aimed at the 'wargames' market, I have no doubt that more than a few sets will find themselves into small-scale dioramas...

The Maus is a plastic, injection-moulded kit with photo-etch and vinyl tracks. So far I have seen only photos of the sprues and I have to say that initial images look impressive. One notable aspect of the casting of the turret, is the very rough finish which was notable in the original.

Unfortunately no prices are yet available for either the figure set, nor the Maus, however Pegasus Hobbies will no doubt provide this information to future companies.

My thanks to On The Way, the BEST of the braille-scale sites, for drawing my attention to these new releases. On the Way, can be seen at:
