Griffon Models have just announced SEVEN new update sets for U.S. Halftracks in 1/35th scale
Thre's little doubt that for U.S. AFV modelers, the introduction, by Dragon Models of a series of Halftrack variants was both welcome and LONG overdue. However, there are a few (minor) 'issues' which are best addressed with AM sets. With this in mind, Griffon Model have announced this series of update sets:

S- BPL35A001 - M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage Royal Edition (Premium Edition BPL35005 + 4x M2 HB Metal Barrel) - for Dragon 6381

BPL35A005 - M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage Premium Edition (Engine Compartment Hood & Rear Vehicle Stowage) - for Dragon 6381.

L35A026 - M16 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage (Fighting Compartment Folding Side & Rear Armor (for Dragon 6381).

L35A034 - Rear Vehicle Stowage & Battlefield Modified Jerry Can Racks for American M16/M13 MGMC for Dragon 6381

L35A035 - Update Set for Rear Suspension with Spring Loaded Idler for WWII American Half-Track Vehicles

L35A036 - Engine Compartment Hood for WWII American M2/M3 Half Track Vehicles (All Variants)

L35A037 - Update set for driver's compartment of WWII American M2/M3 Half Track Vehicles (All variants) - Early/Late Type instrument panel w/decal, full set of foot pedals & interior floor for Dragon Kits

The sets can be obtained (usually post-free) from the major HK on-line stores...

Some of these sets look utterly amazing, that Royal Edition is incredible.

the sets certainly add another Dimension to an already outstanding kit, it would have to a labour of love to build them all though keith

Is the Royal Edition the entire set all in one? That would be great. While expensive I'm sure, it would most likely be cheaper when combined all together, I would think.

IMO Griffon is on another level. After finishing their FLAK 36 upgrade, I would buy theirs over ANYONE else's. Aber is excellent, and Voyager does some nice work, but Griffon are in a league by themselves.

My only problem is that the Royal pack seems to me a little bit overpriced. If I checked it correctly only four barrels are a plus in the Royal Ed (comparing the Premium) but the price tag is some 76 USD higher (120 vs 44 USD). So for me the "second best" Premium is more attractive. Bill, have you had any dimensional problems with the Flak set? I had only used the Lee update pack from the Griffon yet, and the quality was very good, but - as it was one of their first set - there were dimensional problems at some parts. I haven't seen build reviews of their newer sets so I can only hope that they evolved their products. I'm planning to buy their sets for the Marder M and the Gepard Flak (and of course this one), has anybody experience with them?

Zero. As in none. As in perfect. Can't say enough good things about their FLAK 36 set (which would also work for the DML FLAK 37, since the differences between the two guns is mostly cosmetic, and the carriage should be identical to the 36). I had to seriously hold off buying another FLAK or three just for the sensuous pleasure of building a perfect AM blend of plastic and metal.
